Aphex Twin

With a new Aphex Twin album Syro in the shops do you think he will do a proper tour, he said in interviews that he doesn't want to do DJ sets under the name Aphex Twin any more, so does that mean he will do live shows in the same way as Four Tet or Jon Hopkins with Kaoss pads and the like and some synthesizers, I really hope so. Whats the main electronic venue at Glastonbury, is there a specialised tent for electronic acts.

Was he too big to play The Common this year ? I think he'd be wasted in Sonic, the way The Glade is set up would be perfect for him IMO

he played under a different name though (although anybody who knows anything about Aphex Twin knew it was him). if he played under the Aphex Twin name doing a proper Aphex Twin set he'd be way too big for the Glade. definitely have to be Sonic

Yeah I was thinking he could be the Park headliner or sub headliner like Four Tet this year, is it a traditional electronic slot on the Friday at the Park stage, dusk fell fairly quickly for Four Tet's set. otherwise an Aphex set if its earlier should be in a marquee or big top.

If Aphex Twin plays any stage, he'll headline it. Anyone who says otherwise isn't grasping how massive he is within certain circles. The Temple slot was different, it was under a different name, and wasn't it technically a secret set? Anyway, SE corner DJ sets play by different rules.

Bloke I know dropped a load of acid and spent the entire weekend hugging a speaker waiting for him to come on.

Acid for Aphex Twin? That is a bold move. I'd be hesitant to take anything knowing his penchant for grotesquely distorted faces in his AV show.

He should headline the Pyramid. He won't, of course, cos the Pyramid is for rock bands and pop stars, and he'd probably not do it anyway, but a man can dream.

That would be ace. Who is the weirdest act to headline the Pyramid? In recent times, I can't think of anyone more avant garde than Radiohead. As much as I like them, I hope there's something odder I've forgotten.

Gorillaz? That ten minute Syrian orchestra interlude was pretty weird.

And of course there was Tricky's cameo with Beyonce..

Aphex Twin at Glasto would be top. He would very much be headline on a bill and the Park or even WH would be perfect (size wise). I even wonder if they could stick him on the Other. I dont think they would, but he would be somewhat of a draw...........big enough for the Other? Id applaud them if they did it, but I dont know if they would be brave enough.

As for Syro. Its a beautifully constructed album. Yet to get tired of any of it..........

I am however embarrassed that the folk at the Choice Music awards in Ireland (Irish version of the Mercury Prize) have decided to shorlist Syro as one of the best "Irish" albums of the year. The fella was apparently born in Limerick but Im sure he doesnt see himself as Irish at all!??
