NewcastleChris
It's my first EotR and I am super-excited! I am there by myself so am looking forward to meeting some friendly faces! Is it a friendly festival? Anyone else going alone?
paulwa
It is friendly. I've never been solo, but I would have no hesitation in doing so. I believe there's usually a soloists meet-up, so I'm sure you'll get more replies. Otherwise, grab a beer, find a seat and it won't be long before you strike up some conversation! Born in the fifties
It's my first EotR and I am super-excited! I am there by myself so am looking forward to meeting some friendly faces! Is it a friendly festival? Anyone else going alone? Hi Chris, the answers are yes and yes. If you're on Facebook, try the link below, ask to join, and it should lead to some friendly faces, mine included! Travelling to EoTR on your own? Looking for a friendly group to camp with? Come and join the Happy Campers! A few years ago someone on this forum suggested a meetup for people going on their own. It worked, and ever since we have been camping together. Anyone is welcome to join us, you don't actually have to be on your own. We range in age from early 20s to 60s though there aren't many 20-somethings. If you're interested, join the Facebook group, meetup information will be posted there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/125270931623/ Edited August 12, 2014 by Born in the fifties

LowerMead
This will be my fifth consecutive EoTR, I absolutely love it. It is indeed a very friendly festival - my first year I got chatting to some German fans who had travelled to the UK specifically for it, the next year I happened to bump into them completely by chance at the Garden Stage and picked up the conv where we left off! There's a very relaxed vibe ... I go to most of the major UK festivals and have to say that over the years EoTR has become my favourite. My only tip would be take some warm clothing and a wooly hat; even when the weather is nice it can get really cold overnight.
