Hi, I would like to open a thread for Pohoda festival 2015. It's the most popular open-air multicultural event in Slovakia. Which is held for the 19th time from Thursday 9 July to Saturday 11 July 2015.

Beside concerts there are many many attractions and whole airport area is beautifully decorated with art, flags, pianos, sunflowers etc.. Only small number of foreigners attend this festival, but don't be scared all the announcements and information are provided in English too and most of the festival attendants speak English.

Festival is really cheap if you compare it to Western festivals or even festivals in Poland or Austria. You only have to pay the ticket price, camping, showers and other facilities are free. Beer costs around 1.3€ and a meal 3€-5€. Festival area runs all the time from thursday afternoon until sunday morning so there is enough time to discover all the attractions. Festival is family friendly and there are many people with their children on site.

Current ticket price is 89€ with the camping included. Tickets and accomodation can be bought at http://www.pohodafestival.sk/en/shop/shop-category.html
Capacity of the festival is 30 000 people and in the recent years it was sold out.

You can also buy pre-set tent http://www.pohodafestival.sk/en/news/weve-launched-tent-inn-tickets-presale.html

Best way to travel to Pohoda is thru Bratislava or Vienna airport then train or bus to Trencin or Brno airport in Czech republic and then bus to Trencin.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to post in this thread. I’m just a fan of this festival and I would like if more people invite Pohoda and feel the great atmosphere of this festival.

More information you can find on festival’s website:

Hi Muflon,

Thanks for starting this thread.

Was wondering if you can clarify what the rules are on bringing your own alcohol?

Is it anything as long as it is not in glass?

Can it be taken anywhere, as into the actual festival site rather than just camping?

If it is not allowed into the festival site will I be able to take into Tent Inn camping?

Do you have any idea what it will be like going as an only English speaker?

Thanks,

Henry.

Hi Henry,

you can bring as much alcohol as you want, as long as you have it in plastic bottles. They won't let any glass in and they are quite strict about it. There are no restrictions in movement around the airport, so you can bring liquor to the main area too. There is no liquor sold at the festival only beer or some wine maybe.

All the announcements and the printed information are in english too. The crowd is mostly young people from Slovakia and Czech republic and like 80% of them speak english so it shouldn't be a problem to make friends. Every year there are many discussions, theatre and stuff like, that you probably won't enjoy because it is only in Slovak but I'm sure that there are so many attractions you definitely won't be bored. The number of foreigners is raising in the last few years and I think festival is ready for them.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad that you choose Pohoda festival it is definitely the best thing happening in our country, please let me know afterwards if you liked it. :)

Thanx Muflon for starting this topic!

I've a lot of questions, hope you don't mind.

- You can bring your own alcohol and take it with you on the festival area in a plastic bottle. Is there a maximum?

- +/- 1,30 euro for 0,5l beer?

- What kind of (alcoholic) drinks are their?

- How is the vegetarian food? On the map I see a lot of vegetarian options, but don't understand it.

- Is the date known for next year?

- Can you reach the city centre Trencin by foot, how long approximately? And if you take a taxi, how much is it to the city centre?

- How is the night life of Trencin?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I gladly try to answer all your questions.

You can bring as much alcohol as you want, there are no restrictions in amount. But remember that glass containers are prohibited, so you have to bring it in plastic bottles. I have to mention, please drink responsibly Pohoda is not a good place to get insanely drunk. There are many nice people with their families and small children so please try to behave.

Yes beer cost around 1.30-1.40 there is also cider, wheat beer and some vine maybe. There is no liquor sold at the festival site.

There are many vegetarian options. The food stalls are getting better every year and there is huge variety of dishes for vegetarians and vegans too.

The dates for next year are 7th-9th of July 2016 at the same place the Trencin airport. It's the 20th anniversary of the festival. There are already more than 4000 tickets sold. The current price of the ticket is 79€ but the international presale haven't started yet.

The Trencin city centre is quite close like 20 minutes from the festival site I don't know the taxi prices but it shouldn't cost you more than 6 eur. But there is nothing happening in the city and there is no night life. Actually there is no point of leaving the festival site at all. The program runs literally all the time the last DJs play until 6am until the greeting of the sun at dawn and the concerts starts again around noon. You will have no time to get bored :)

I can understand that's quite unique to be able to bring your own alcohol to festival but it shouldn't be the main point. I didn't even have a beer for 5 years and it was great every time. Pohoda got this year 10/10 points from Virtual festivals review again http://www.I'M A DESPERATE SPAMMER.com/latest/news/15575 you can be sure that you will have great time there.
