Heavy means moshpits which means death and after all the deaths during Metallica this year I doubt it...

5 Years since their last appearence its possible, but feels to soon I think and hopefully a summer means they would do Glastonbury at the start of the tour :D

definitely feels too soon to be but as i've said many a time, they're one of Glastonbury's success stories (in giving them a headline slot first) so it wouldn't surprise me to see them back so soon

used to love them but then they got shit / i grew up. would still be interested in hearing this new 'heavy' material though, although doubt i'd go see them unless there was absolutely nobody else on

Is it 5 years already? Dear me.

I got into a bit of a state in the sun that year and didn't see them :(

It was my honeymoon in 2010, Muse was the best set Ive seen at Glasto, I know its an unpopular opinion on this forum but I thought they were absolute magic that night.

I say best set, probably a tie with Neil Young in 2009.

Why not?

2004, 2010 and 2015? Wide enough spread, would certainly allow them to splash cash on someone like Fleetwood Mac, as Muse would do it fairly cheap i'd imagine.

If they don't headline this year I think they could do it in 2016

I keep changing my opinion about 2010, I flip between just an average Muse performence (pretty good) or one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

(I think Arcade Fire is doing similar with my mind this year)

This is exactly my experience of them too, and despite everyone telling me "oh but you have to see them live," it was seeing them live that was the tipping point. I just realised that their live show was very big and very booming but really rather dull.

It was one of those gigs were it felt like there was magic on the air. Me and the wife had had an amazing day wondering about, the only other band we saw that day was Biffy at the park, I'd ticked a few things off my glasto bucket list like trying the Goan fish curry, spending time in strummerville and seeing the se corner during the day so was in high spirits. Seemed to luckily pick a great part of the crowd as well, everyone really friendly and having a good time, it was just a magic night.

It was one of the best days I've ever had at glasto tbh

Meh. The last headline slot was good fun but it wasn't brilliant, solid but not spectacular. I'm not sure I'd want them as a headliner now though, me and my mate got absolutely trollied a couple of months ago and ending up watching one of their recent stadium shows on sky arts and it was absolutely gash. Awful setlist and a real phoned in boring performance. I used to love them but they've really lost the spark of their live show, everything was entirely predictable and dull.

Someone posted on here a couple of months ago, in the R&L bit I think, saying that they'd spoken to some of the band and they'd been told that they were in talks about doing Glastonbury next year.

I haven't heard of this and as a fanboy I'm usually up to date with any rumours regarding them really. I'd love it if they headlined as I'd like to see them again however I don't fancy ever paying for one of their gigs again

the guy from the reading forums has been quite reliable over the years, he hears insider stuff. id quite like it if they headlined, not a massive fan but i really enjoyed emirates but id much rather a prince or an acdc :P

their Glastonbury headline show was the final nail in the coffin for my interest in them. i'd seen them earlier on The Resistance tour and hadn't been bowled over, but the Glastonbury performance (which i had unrealistic HIGH expectations of to be fair) was just dull and by the numbers. even Citizen Erased couldn't save it. saw them on the Black Holes tour and absolutely loved it, but now am wondering whether it was actually that great or if i was just young and naive

still though, all that said, Knights Of Cydonia will always bring the house down (as well as the Origins stuff if they start playing it again - if i remember correctly they've almost entirely culled it from their sets bar one or two songs since the full album Reading/Leeds shows)

Nah, there's no way they're going to be playing John Peel :P haha

By more intimate, I got the distinct impression that they meant less of the theatrics and more of a crowd/band experience without distractions like the actor stuff they had on the most recent tour.

Muse are a class act and a band I'd readily see if given the chance at any time! Their 02 gig in 2012 had the best light show to any gig or festival slot I've seen to date let alone the immense clarity yet boldness of the sound. I think that maybe next year could be a little rushed, but with a quality new album I'd highly welcome a Muse slot. I wouldn't have a complaint at all.
