carlosj
Hi, I've looked at some other threads and the Glastonbury website, but i also wondered about your onsite experiences from this year, in case Mrs carlosj can join me next year. Mrs cj is mobile but I'll look to rent one of those battery powered chairs to save her walking everywhere. Any thoughts gratefully received. I understand that there are limited CV spots in the disabled camping field, is that just Spring Ground, or are there other locations? Do the batteries generally last the day on the rented wheelchairs? Did you find it easy to get to the viewing platforms, and do carers join partners or stand in the crowd? (I can see it would be difficult for headliners since the crowds are bigger) Where do the buggies go when people are on the platforms, or are they driven on? I know that travelling will be slower onsite, especially through the bottlenecks, but was there anything that stopped you dead, or was it just a case of adding half an hour to every (already slow) journey? Thanks for any advice! cj
verrymerry
You'd be best emailing the festival office, there's someone called Claire (I've read about her on efests) who looks after the disabled facilities and the people in contact with her couldn't praise her enough
Mr Splodge
Hi, yes there are limited CV spaces I recon it will be tighter policed next year as camping space was squeezed this year the size of some of them was ridiculous. Can't comment about the wheelchair batteries but have never heard of any problems. I have never had a problem getting on the viewing platforms, you are allowed one person with you the pa platform pass is transferable between your group. You are able to take the chair on the platform, again I think things may change next year as heard loads of complaints about the scooters the main one being they are taller and when in front people behind can't see. Traveling is ok but be sensible we normally wait for the crowd to die down at the end of a headline set but 99% of the festival goers are great unfortunately you get the ones that don't care unfortunately this happened more this year. The campsite is great good facilities and staff as mentioned Claire is great doubt she will be in the office much as she is pregnant and due to give birth November she has been training up a lady called Katie. Anything you need to know please ask and I or someone else will gladly help.

citrine
The facilities for disabled goers are fab, we have used the facilities for a few years now. Hubby used a scooter this year, we managed for the first year in years to get all around the festival and at a decent pace (he walks slower than a snail!!!) we picked the scooter up at 10 each morning and it would last the day, and drop it back when we finished in an evening. The only down side is it didn't like the mud so got a little restricted, and couldn't get to see the manics when they played. As the other half PA I could go on the platforms with him, there are also disabled paths which make life so much easier, particularly the sneaky one down the side of the pyramid to the other stage, it passes though a secret field where you see all manner of celebs.. I normally email Claire in about February for my disabled pack, the email address is on the main Glasto site.
