Worthy view

First year in my motorhome at Glastonbury this year, while I enjoyed the festival, I did not like the motor home bit at all. It was to far from festival, inconsiderate neighbours with bloody barbacue on three nights and pain in the arse kids. Wasnt allowed to move to another pitch either.Plus side was comfy bed and decent breakfast, thats all. If I am lucky enough to get a ticket next year I will leave motorhome at home, I will be 67 then and dont fancy camping on site at all, but the ready pitched tents and small cabin things on Worthy view look very inviting, anyone use them, what did you think about them, hoe easy is it to get to the parking area and tent area, is it reasonably quiet I realise its still a walk to site but eould be willing to put up with that

WV was great, Car 1 min from entrance; tent 5 mins from entrance and 10 ins walk to gate (next to stone circle field). Staff around to help you with (carry) your gear. Shower facilities excellent. But......that hill could indeed be a killer if you're not fairly fit. It is a very short hill though and there are steps, so if you go out hill walking you'd have no problems. Very quiet all night except Sat, when the music from the SE corner (Hell Stage in particular) went on until 6am - I think they really cranked it up that night. Ear plugs made no difference that night. Other nights, I slept like a log.

First time at WV for us, big plus was the distance to the car park, we were less than 10 mins so could easily do extra trips for more stuff, was nice to have chairs at the tent (did not take them anywhere I get annoyed with the chairw*nkers who get in the way of busy stages usually waiting for a band hours away), flushable toilets though the portaloos on our part of the field were always clean, emptied and had paper/handwash, tents are spaced well and evenly so you have outside space, downsides were few other than you could hear the music from the SE corner until 6am, it seemed to get louder each night, the bar could have been great but was dull, the food place was too small so huge queues but the main issue and really the only issue is that bloody hill. It's got a steep gradient so you would only go back to your tent once a day, as an unfit person I dreaded it each night and did not find it easy, certainly gave me a work out. Would not recommend WV for anybody with disabilities, young kids/ pushchair s or very unfit

I've have used both TF (2013) and WV (2014). For me, WV is the option to go with. Closer to the late night areas which is then a shorter walk home. Yes a steep hill at the end but i still prefer is to the long gradient up to TF. WV is also a bit cheaper and you get bigger tents for your money. Other than that the facilities are pretty much the same. If I am successful with tickets again this year i will defo being going back to WV

Actually pretty disappointed with WV this year. There were 2.5 times more people than last year, but not 2.5 times more toilets and only a few more showers. If they are going to significantly increase capacity (and therefore £) then they should at least ensure that the facilities are adequate and match the increase. They've gone for the easy money without thinking of the people paying for it, which is pretty disappointing.

Agree with this, TF slightly shorter distance to the car as smaller. Much prefer location of WV near tipis, green fields etc, even Other and Arcadia/Park. Would rather 5 mins of pain up the steps than the tedious slog up muddy lane!

I should have also mentioned that new to this year at WV was the E.P.O (easy pass out) system, which got rid of the paper pass out. This is also a big factor for me in not having to worry about losing tickets etc. (For those that did not use WV, it means that you only have a wrist band and do not need anything else for entering/exiting the site).

If you were at your motorhome so often that your neighbour's barbecuing bothered you THREE times, then with respect, you were at the wrong festival and have no idea what camping is about either. Most all people BBQ when camping so alas just something you have to deal with in my book. In the west campervan fields VERY few people did BBQ since heck, there was amazing food all over the festival. Why go back to eat there to save at most £2 or so? I think you were just unlucky in where you parked this year.

Go try WV... sleep in a tent for five days, walk up that hill every night and I can guarantee you now that in 2016 you will back in the motorhome.

I'm thinking of doing a podpad thing in WV for 2015 (if i get tickets).

Is there a drop off point near or do i have to use the usual one which gives you a coach to the gate which i'm fairly sure is right over the other side of the site?

There is a shuttle bus from Gate A and also one from Castle Cary station. Everything you need to know is here:

Stayed at WV in 2013 and it was fabulous. Stayed in 2014 and it was crap. 2.5 times more people, tents miles up the hill within the campsite, no increase in shower provision and they broke down for 1.5 days and reopened with queues of over 2 hours for women. Probs with the electricity so no hairdryers or the like either most of Saturday and Sunday and no refunds for lack of service either!!

That hill is a killer and I am reasonably fit - go the gym etc.. different being at gym I am not drunk/stoned!

When tickets wen ton sale for WV 2014 it was like T day - most good options for 2-4 people sold out in under 4 minutes and you need to pay in full for what you book so a big outlay around xmas. Not worth ti at all now. Going back down to main campsite with a pass to a pamper parlour somewhere if I can get tickets this year.

I'm with the Drunk Pumpkin, above - WV was an absolute clusterf*ck and cost a fair chunk of dosh. That made it even more of a rip off when you consider that we were paying for, well, not very much. Apart from a lung-busting hill to get back to the tent, meaning you arrived all sweaty with a pumping heart and knackered legs. Try getting some kip after that. Oh, and not much chance of a shower, on account of them being broke or humungus queues for them if they were working.

Worthy View in 2015? No thanks...

Try zooloos. We stayed there last year and were more than happy. I think the price for a bell tent was pretty much the same as for WV. Just outside gate d, short queue for a good, hot shower and a quiet field for when you did want to sleep. Their bacon sandwiches also come recommended!
