Could The Libertines play?

Rumours coming from the ever reliable NME state they will play a Hyde Park reunion in July... Could they play a secret set somewhere?

A band I loved when I was younger and never got to see... would love to see them, but not sure how strong their set would be after all this time.

I think they'd be pretty good if they did play, but it's unlikely isn't it? They haven't played together for a good few years now. Maybe Pete could do a solo slot a la 2007 instead - that was good.

I remember reading somewhere that Glastonbury tried to get them last time. I'm not sure if there would be a slot available for them this year though.

I think Pete saying 'yes' to a Libertines reunion is about as useful as Liam Gallagher saying 'yes' to an Oasis reunion. I'm doubtful but I'd be more than happy to see it come to fruition.

They were surprisingly good at Leeds 2010 so I'd be tempted by a Hyde Park show with a decent undercard & the right price. I doubt the 'rumours' are true though.

They were brilliant at the Forum in 2010 but Reading & Leeds was a bit hit or miss, Glasto could be amazing but not if its a half-hearted cash in. And this is coming from a massive Libs fan.

the rumours have all come from their facebook page posting a picture of Hyde Park, so if not true, it's a bit of a weird thing for them to do. what else could a picture of Hyde Park mean other than a show there?!

they won't do Glasto though. if they reform, it's all about the money

As much as I like them I can't think of much worse than seeing them doing a cash in gig at Hyde Park. Would be strange timing with Carl pushing his new band though.

If they did a smallish gig at Glasto it would be wonderful though.

There were some rumours a few weeks ago that the Libs were going to be playing this summer, so I'm quite hopeful - particularly with the recent facebook post and yesterdays simple 'Albion???' post as well as the official page for the reunion becoming a sponsored post over the weekend.

I'd give anything to see them again, the Rhythm Factory reunion in 2009 remains one of my all-time top gig memories.

Leeds 2010 was great - big fan, but wasn't expecting them to shine on the main stage. And then Arcade Fire followed which was a classic. Well worth the day ticket!

The rhythm factory gigs were superb. If this happens and I think it's pretty likely, as its very much about the money glasto is out

Secret show would be fun though. Carl will be at Glastonbury anyway and the others would be in the country rehearsing with him before then.

In the NME article Pete was mainly saying he needed the money, because he fathered another kid (not suprising).

So surely if he needs the money why not do both, a la the stones last year?

Not sure they could headline though.
