oldbird
When I am on the forum app on my iphone it keeps going to This is Abuse page. I can X out of it but it happens every minute or so. Anyone else having this problem? It is very annoying! I have deleted and reinstalled the app but it keeps doing it. Any techies out there? eFestivals
I understand that but it is literally every minute or more, didn't used to be like this. It is so bad that I will probably stop browsing the forums using the app If you'd like to pay the wage bill, I'll be happy to remove it.In the meantime, at most it's "every page" (tho it's not) and not "every minute".It won't make any difference to stop using the app to instead browse the forums with a browser. If you don't wish to help support this website to be here for your use, then this website will have no heartbreak to lose you. mrtourette
It appears to be a necessary evil. There are ways around it, otherwise I guess you just have to suck it up until the ad is no longer in ciculation.
eFestivals
Thanks Neill, you really are as lovely and helpful as everybody tells me I'm not trying to be lovely just as I'm not trying to be bankrupt, and you're not trying trying to be selfishly stupid.I'm achieving my aims. eFestivals
As I said before, the ad makes the app impossible to use, so if people stop using the app what is the point of getting the advertising revenue? It doesn't make it impossible to use.The point of the advertising revenue is to fund the site. It's "no funds = no site", and not "no site = no funds".At some point along the line I'm going to stop funding people like you to show how limited your thinking is. oldbird
I have just happily paid my subscription. However, I think you are far too quick to be downright rude and I certainly won't be buying you a cider. Peace
eFestivals
My apologies to you for having to suffer adverts so that you suffer my rudeness about your selfishness towards those adverts so that all this exists at all.
oldbird
In another thread someone else explained better than I could how the 'Abuse' ad made the mobile site unusable. You ignored them too. I posted in the website help section needing just that , not the downright unpleasantness I got. I will not be buying a mug, t shirt or beanie hat
oldbird
I am still getting the 'Abuse' ad on my mobile despite paying not to. So? Next?
eFestivals
I am still getting the 'Abuse' ad on my mobile despite paying not to. So? Next?well, firstly you shouldn't be expecting 24/7 service from a website that cannot afford to employ 24/7 staff, and then demonstrate your impatience all around the internet because you're not getting it. The free iPhone app you're using is obsolete. Given that it cost you nothing, you're losing nothing if you have to bin it and use a browser instead (which will definitely work ad-free).The iPhone app may or may not work as ad-free. Unless someone wishes to buy me an iPhone so that I can test it for myself that's the best I can tell you. eFestivals
After some further thought about this issue, I think it's worth me stating that it is not technically possible for the ads to display if the user of the iPhone app is logged-in to the forums and is a Gold member. eFestivals
Well, well, well! After yet again deleting the app at around 5pm this afternoon, I now reinstall it after reading this and yes!!! This is Abuse no longer takes over at every swipe. Could you possibly have been mistaken Neill?Nope. As I said, it's not technically possible. The ad code comes from the server and not the app, and the server won't - can't - serve the ad code if you're logged in and a member of the 'gold' group. But, as I've said, the iPhone app is obsolete. It's already not doing for you all it should. If you want the full forums functionality, you need to bin the app. The ability for that app to work at all is in its last few months.
