I think this video sums it up
I would be amazed if someone could find a shuttle that is not jam packed apart from a few odd occasions - I have never caught the train but have driven past the station on many occasions and it always looks well packed to me.

That's what I thought. Even the first train in (from Weymouth) must have at least half a bus-load of people, not to mention those who catch it locally without needing to get a train at all. There are two trains arriving before 6:45am so I'd hope the first shuttle would leave at 7am latest, getting to the site for around 7:30am ish?

It's hard to predict- I've arrived by train about 9 times in the past, and never had a problem. The worst year was 2009, because the roads were all clogged up due to a series of accidents. Even then it only took about an hour or two to queue for the shuttle bus, which was much better than the delays for people travelling by car and coach. Since that year they introduced the Tuesday night car arrival thing, which has cleared up the roads for the shuttle bus on Wednesday.

Since then I went by train in 2010, and there was practically no queuing- straight on the bus and a pretty speedy journey to the festival. They're very well organised and know what they're doing- it's hard to be certain of times though as it is a bit dependent on the unforeseeable (road accidents, congestion etc), but there is a good chance you'll have a smooth journey with little waiting, depending on how many people arrive by train at the same time as you.

The most stressful bit is when the bus in front of you is filling up and you're not sure if you'll be able to get on that one, or will have to wait for the next one- I always just miss out!

Thanks. I'll be in Castle Cary the night before actually, so I'll be at the station in the queue before the first train arrives, all being well getting myself on the first shuttle bus. There will be a few people in my position, I think. Enough to fill up a bus? Who knows, but when the first train arrives I hope there'll be enough to get going.

To bring this thread back to life.....If I get the 3pm train from Paddington on the Wednesday - arriving at Castle Cary about 4.40pm - from your experience, how long would you expect the wait to be (ball park) for the shuttle... And is there any better/ faster ways of getting to the fest from CC?

Travelling solo and meeting friends there, so a rough idea would really help! :)
