Arcade Fire

You do realise it's an Arcade Fire album? It's going to sound like Arcade Fire

but a lot of it sounds like a bland mash up of what they've done previously. i'm not expecting them to release a dance album like mrtourette so sarcastically said, but i was just expecting something a bit... different. pushing things forward etc. i think the fact that there's quite a lot of long slower numbers drags it down for me. apart from the 1-2-3 punch of Normal Person, You Already Know (prime example of the 'by-numbers'. not bad, just ver standard) and Joan Of Arc, a lot of it is quite MOR

i definitely just had far too high expectations for the album. they're one of my favourite bands after all and anything less than perfection was always going to disappoint. it's not a bad album. just not the album i wanted and/or expected

I really like the album, though probably not as much as funeral or the suburbs. If you take out flash bulb eyes and the 5 minutes of noise at the end (which i dislike), plus maybe porno and supersymmetry (which i'm more indifferent to) what's

left is a cracking album imo. I can see how 'you already know' sounds like arcade fire by numbers but i still like it. It's not a radical change but i didn't really want one - I think they pushed the boundaries enough.

I don't think this is the album that will convince many people, who weren't already decided, they are worthy pyramid headliners though. I can't help but picture it on the pyramid anyway - 7/8 songs off of this plus greatest hits and i'll be deliriously happy.

Managed to get two tickets for the barrowlands pretty easily, lots of people i know never got any. When i got through i realised my card details were for an older card so had to put them all in again. That made me worry slightly but managed no bother with it. Pretty happy i managed to get one and i will no doubt wear my suit that i got for my last day in 6th year!

It's all the same to me. Anything north of Watford Gap is one big scary wet place called The North. I've seen it on road signs.

I don't even know what a hill is!

I find it very reassuring that they always warn you if you're going on a northbound motorway that you're heading to THE NORTH (printed in massive size font). I'm sure that's saved a few unsuspecting travelers.

I hear up north that they put THE SOUTH in big massive font on the motorway signs to tell you all where the prosperity and fun is.

Tickets sorted for my first ever gig at the Roundhouse. Couldn't be more excited! :D

Is this formal dress thing a definite? Doesn't say anything on the ticket confirmation e-mail? Don't get me wrong, I'm bang up for it but don't want to look like a lemon if I'm the only one! ;)

pretty sure it is. all of the posters have it written on and even the ticket booking page had a little footnote of it. i'm actually quite looking forward to the dressing up element of it. think it'll be quite funny to see a mix of smartly dressed people and ridiculous costumes
