Pothuthic
Portsmouth, at half 9 in the morning on friday I think Who were V looking at getting to replace them, would the replacement just have played one day then?
daniel.k
Ahh very nice. How long did it take to get there?
Boris The Spider
To this day I feel really guilty about Oasis. I made my boyfriend go and see MGMT in the arena so he basically missed their last live performance (as of yet)
MusicMatters
Can't remember as it was 2009 haha but from what i read they were close to sorting one. And yeah Oasis pulled out Sunday morning, they already played the Saturday at Weston so it would just be for Hylands. With it being on TV etc they probably tried a bit harder than what they would have if it was at Weston.
daniel.k
Hmm I suppose they could have tried to sort anyone within reason. Why dont the televise anything from Weston?

Rose-Colored Boy
probably same reason they don't televise Leeds
daniel.k
Ive seen highlights from Leeds but that was on local news when they talk about it, not national
MusicMatters
Not clue, more z lists in the area maybe? lol Or it might just be easier for Channel 4 to film there
Com Truise
Which is?
daniel.k
Most places are probably mainly based in London so it makes sense for them to only televise more southern fests, less for them to travel
Rose-Colored Boy
They prefer whichever is further south Edited May 20, 2013 by Zac Quinn
daniel.k
Yeah BBC being a big buck to the norm, but that 25% might be the festival section of BBC
Com Truise
See you say that but the BBC just moved 75% of their operations to Manchester, and yet they're still focusing on Reading over Leeds this summer..
Rose-Colored Boy
Reading has a higher capacity and more publicity generally though, Hylands and Weston are same capacity aren't they?
daniel.k
Apparently they are both 90,
MusicMatters
Think so. I'm still waiting with interest to see what kind of coverage Channel 4 are planning this summer in the absence of the T4 strand.
Indie53
Capacity of Weston is bigger
daniel.k
I remember seeing some V stuff on 4Music, but were the headliners on live or not? Where did you find out Weston is bigger
Rose-Colored Boy
If anyone has a Virgin box with a Music on Demand subscription there's a few V sets on there. Albeit from no more recently than 2010..
MusicMatters
I think headliners are shown (if shown) about an hour or so after they come off stage on Channel 4 normally (which i don't think was part of the t4 coverage as it was about midnight or sometime around then)
Boris The Spider
Why would the BBC presenters go from London to staffs/Leeds when the twin sites are on their doorstep? The coverage has gone from bad to worse since it moved from Channel 4 to 4music. Edited May 20, 2013 by Boris The Spider
daniel.k
Do we think Beyonce WONT be televised then live or otherwise, no matter what time at night
MusicMatters
They also say they go "live" on the day at times but i'm not 100% they are shown as live... swearing etc needs to be cut out
daniel.k
Might be a small delay, even a few minutes might be enough for them just to turn the sound off for a second or play another noise over it, or really risk it and go real live Edited May 20, 2013 by daniel.k
