The camping essentials - I've found a bargain which you all need to know about thread...

Invested in a new two man tent I can stand-up in!!

I'm getting too old and fat to keep crawling around trying to get dressed - the resemblance to a tortoise stuck on his back isn't a good look to be honest!

... Headroom at the entrance looks sweet! Pretty heavy though for a 2 man?

I've had to borrow a crappy little tent off my parents for glasto, can't use their decent one because they'll be using it.. since I managed to get them tickets this year!

But it's a basic 2 man tent, obviously I'll put it up just to make sure everything's there before we go but how tight will it really be for an average sized 20 year old male and a tall 20 year old female?

Everyone's been saying that for 2 people you need a 3 man tent really so now I'm a bit concerned.

Need is all very relative, the old folk like their comfort and space

You'll be fine I suspect, I've done two folk in a two man and been fine just a bit cozy. all part of the experience if you're a couple really

why not put it up and get in it?

i think the waterproof onesie would be a 'mare.

if you go to use a longdrop you're going to get soaked while it's around your ankles in the filth and filling up with rain.

I didn't think of that!

Thank you you've just saved me £15 and a right nightmare! :)

Picked up a bit of a bargain tent tonight, gets great reviews on the ukcampsite website, and amazon . Easy to put up under the influence (I hope !)

Best thing to take .....S hook to hang on back of long drop door to put bag on when using said long drop as the floor can be pretty rank!! Only cost a couple of quid in hardware stores

I like this idea... What size hooks would you recommend?

Instead of carrying a hook around, What I do is thread the hook of the lock on the door through the loop on the top of my ruck sack before putting in the hole to lock, so it hangs off there until you unlock it. Easy to reach it for wipes/tissues/other too then.

For newbs the locks are similar to this, so you can picture what I mean..93852000P1.JPEG

Quite possibly the most useful tip I have ever read! Thank you so much, that's a brilliant festival tip!

Sorry if it's been mentioned previously in this thread as I've not looked, but Aldi are doing an offer soon (May 22nd) on camping stuff, including camp beds (recommended by me), sleeping bags and trolleys. There are tents but I don't know their spec.

Dad picked me up this from an Oswald and Bailey store the other day for £30...just me staying it in so size should be fine but do the specs seem ok? Don't know a lot about tents but it's double skinned and 2000m HH rating should be enough to keep me dry shouldn't it? Can't find many reviews online...
