To be fair by the time Rock became a star Shawn gone, and when Shawn came back Rock was basically gone.

When Rock came back in 2011 Shawn had already retired.

Ok, so we could've had Shawn v Rocky Maivia on Raw in 1997, but the reality is a HBK v Rock dream match was never really feasible.

Yeah true but there was a year there when they were both active. 2002/2003. Anyway The Rock didn't like Shawn then. HBK had been pretty nasty to him in the Attitude era.

They missed out by not having Savage/HBK in '94. Savage was put on commentary as VInce thought he was too old for the 'new generation' that he was pushing.  Savage wanted a feud with HBK which he wanted to last for I think it was 2 years  and put him over. VInce wasn't for it and kept him on commentary, main reason he went to WCW was he wanted to wrestle... Or was it cause he banged  Stephanie haha.

A 2 year rivalry when weekly TV was getting going was a horrendous idea tbh

I agree that it wouldn't need to be that long but a year would have been fine. They wouldn't need to be facing other the whole time, could have had them being allies and regulary teaming up, then one of them turning or something. Either way they missed out by not having a feud at all with them.

Since Shawn in 2002 Rock had matches with Brock, Hogan, Hurricane (on Raw, and he lost), Austin, Goldberg and then the handicap at WMXX.

Ok, they could've done it at 19, but by the time Rock was back he was doing the re match with Hogan, Shawn was feuding with Jericho and they needed Rock to feud with Goldberg.

TBH 19 Rock v HBK would have been all wrong, HBK v Jericho was a match everyone had longed to see and Rock v Austin 3, in Austins last match HAD to happen, then all Rock did was put over Goldberg and leave, makes you wonder though, when at this point, Rock left, Austin left, Lesnar had broken through, Angle was there still and both tearing up Smackdown, but on the Raw side you had HHH stink up the year with fueds v Booker T, Nash and Goldberg [although, some of the Goldberg stuff was ok....] why wasn't the belt put back on HBK again, surely HHH would have wanted to do business with HBK again. Madness.

And yes I agree with earlier posts Hogan was a complete dick.

So apparently Taker's opponent isn't currently on the main roster.

It could be a NXT call up like Baron Corbin or Samoa Joe, a gimmick celeb like a boxer or UFC fighter otherwise it's only Goldberg, Sting or Rey Mysterio I can think of. I doubt Sting is healthy and Rey isn't big enough in WWE eyes unless they've got Austin or Michaels to come out of retirement.

*edit* Maybe Angle too if they are desperate.

I can see it being Sting if he's recovered.

NXT doing a 32 man global cruiserweight tournament on the Network. All of it taking place at Full Sail with most of the talent not being contracted at WWE.

Sounds like it's going to have a lot of awesome talent from around the world in it. Both PROGRESS and Rev Pro got mentioned by name the other day as guys he can use, so Will Ospreay might be a good bet to be in there.

Or Fin Balor. His demon gimmick makes an easy storline

I would struggle to see balor or anyone on nxt as a realistic contender for undertaker. Of course they could have leaked a rumour to generate discussion.

I agree, especially with not being on the main roster previously to generate some momentum to challenge Taker at the biggest show of the year.

I'm saying it will be Sting.

There never is a realistic contender for 'taker at 'mania, even Lesnar wasn't. With injuries throughout the roster they'll have to pull someone from somewhere.

If it's Taker vs Sting, then it should be the main event especially if it will be Taker's last match. I hope Sting can pull out one last match, his match vs HHH last year was quite entertaining

"Currently not active". It could be HHH!

Sting making a few indie appearances next month. Not sure if hes wrestling. But it has to be Sting vs Taker. Both retire after. It'll be dreadful aswell.

Wont be Angle. He has indie shows the week before and after WM32.

They've done 'taker vs HHH 3 times already and yeah, Sting vs 'taker wont be a classic.

I think the bigger question is will 'taker retire this year or next to face Cena like he was meant to this year.

Could still be Cena this year. Still 6 weeks to recover. He doesn't have to do any contact in the run in.

Lesnar visually is one of the most intimidating wrestlers of all time. He looks like he could beat anyone. Someone like Balor is too small to go against undertaker without a huge build. Even someone like Mysterio would have been a hard sell.

Yet people were and still to this day genuinely shocked when Lesnar actually won. Like I said no one is expected to win against 'taker and it's become more who's being fed to 'taker this year type of thing, at least someone like Mysterio would be more of a name than the likes of Mark Henry and A-Train.

When Samoa Joe first came to WWE, I didn't understand the hype at all. However since his heel turn I have been blown away. He has a great understanding of heel philosophy and in my view stays looking kick ass without moving into cool heel territory. He may be the best male heel on wwe tv at present and I would call him up straight away.
