I think Vampire Weekend will be 3rd on the main stage, they did very well regarding record sales and the size opf venues since they played last and I'd imagine their new album is going to be a pretty high profile release.

Apparently R&L tried to grab AC/DC in 2009 but it didn't work out and band the size of AC/DC would be more suited to large fest that Soni isn't.

Apparently it's 45k and they can get an extra 5k depending on licence for day tixs so on par with Bestival. Both Reading (on it's own & with Leeds) and Download are much bigger.

IMO I think there's gonna be a shock headliner of either AC/DC or Coldplay this year.

Who thinks Metallica will play R/L anytime soon after Melvin mocked "The Big Four" and said "... the same old shit" in reference to them? Their manager certainly didn't find it amusing haha

Knebworth is the largest single field event site in the country at 125k.

Sonisphere however is 60k all camping not including day tickets. Download is smaller than Sonisphere in terms of camping capacity, but has a bigger capacity overall. Stuart Galbraith has said before that he can extend the capacity to 80k, but doesn't want it to be uncomfortable for people, but that option is available as and when they want it.

It's a toughie. They're still a massive band but they havn't really done much of note in the last few years, certainly not for the R&L audience anyway. Playing an album in it's entirety certainly wouldn't be the crowd-pleaser at R&L that it was at Download.

Pretty sure he was meant to headline the second stage at T but refused because he was against The Roses.

I think he'd be too big, he may have got away with it at T because that's an open stage. I think he'd sub if they booked him.

As festival sites both Glasto & IOW have been bigger.

Or more likely he knew the limits of the festival.

IoW isn't - at least, it isn't as much as Knebworth isn't when Soni is there.
