Just read that Bill Ward wont be at Download with 'the original' Black sabbath line up.what a pile of bollocks!!

Ozzys drummer to take his place.

Hopefully Iommi makes it now or there will be no credibility to the line up at all.

perhaps Sharon wants this line up - -

Ozzy Osbourne

zakk wylde - ex Ozzy guitarist

geezer butler - ex ozzy bassist

Tommy Clufetos - current Ozzy drummer

p.s. how was he asking for too much money?

i very much doubt that he was asking for more than 25%

Woo! Another Sabbath thread about this!

I doubt he was even expecting to get 25%. I'm sure I read that drummers, particularly ones that don't get major writing credits, rarely get over ~ 15%. I expect he was being offerred less than that, and would have accepted ~20 from what I've read.

Got a link as to where it actually got announced rather than just the fight reported?

why on earth should a drummer get less than his fair share? if that is true (and I'm not doubting your claim) I am genuinely surprised by this.

you say "rarely get over 15%" would that be for a 4 piece band?

I'm staggered that any band would not split everything equally, regardless of who does the writing - record sales, airplay etc are surely where writing royalties are paid - a 2 hour gig is blood sweat and tears from everyone, ironically - usually moreso for the drummer.

is that a naive viewpoint?

I'm guessing that that 15% is the average take from a bands income by its drummer - but with that income being live dates, plus recordings that the drummer doesn't have writing credits for. For just live dates then the income should be split evenly.

But I think it's far from impossible that Sharon Osbourne has taken the view that Ozzy is the star and so deserving of more. Even Ozzy takes that sort of line himself, with the statements he's made about how he 'rescued' Sabbath from playing shitty pub dates as a fake version of themselves.

The simple fact is tho that Sabbath are Sabbath, and a much bigger draw than Ozzy is just by himself.

So he wasn't fired by Sharon then? Just wouldn't take part as he felt he wasn't getting enough. ;)

Yeah, 4 piece band.

I don't agree it should be the case, but from what I've read/heard they're often not respected.

Quite. I wouldn't give a damn about seeing Ozzy on his own, would possibly bother if he was at a festival I was going to anyway, while Sabbath is a decent attraction.

That said, I'm going for Soundgarden...

As is often the case, money is the root of all evil. Why not after 40 odd years can't they say equal dibs of 1/4 each.
