I didn't know where to post this, sorry if it's in the wrong section.

I'm interested in your policy, if you have one, on the information you choose to share with us on the site.

I've noticed the mods occasionally mention things like (in one instance) Glastonbury headliners that never came to be, that they're unable to reveal. Presumably when running this site you've picked up some inside sources and the like, and must be privy to lots of information like this. I suppose my question is how do you choose what to publish?

Presumably on the one hand getting a couple of inside scoops on who the headliners of Reading are is something that is worth publishing. The site is known as the best festival forum out there, and it's this kind of information that sets it apart from a crummy gossip forum based on faked 'leaks' and the like.

On the other hand, presumably if someone at Latitude told you the whole lineup tomorrow, it might burn your bridges with your contacts to immediately leak it on here.

How does it work? Gut instinct? Do people say 'off the record' a lot like in the West Wing? I'm generally curious in what prompts you to want to share a definite Reading headliner like the Foo Fighters, but stay tight lipped on a Glastonbury booking that might have fallen through... There must be some kind of policy?

Sorry for the slow reply, I've only just seen this post.

It's a very difficult question to answer. There is, I think, a consistent manner in which we do things, but there's so many different variables to what and how we hear things that giving a simple statement for that manner is just about impossible.

Regarding the Glasto 4th headliner that never was, there's no doubt that I have 100% accurate info on that, but it's meaningless info because it didn't happen. It's to no one's advantage to publish it.
