What do you guys think about the possibility of Linkin Park playing this year? Maybe as the Friday night headliner. Saw them in 2010 and they were absolutely brilliant. Imagine if they did a muse/metalica and played Hybrid theory front to back. haha

no thanks, another band who has toured relentlessly year in year out.
soni in 09, own tour in '10 and download last year.

Would be even worse than kasabian headlining

Hybrid Theory & Meteora are great albums but after that they went rubbish. Just not interesting enough right now to warrant headlining R&L & I couldn't see them subbing anyone except Green Day or someone that big.

Hell yes, would be amazing. Pretty much a best-case scenario for me!

Would love it if Foo's, Kasabian and Linkin Park headlined!

They would be SO much better than The Cure, so i hope so.

No way they're gonna sub, would have to be a headliner and seem to just be alternating between download and soni.

I think both The Cure & Linkin Park are average live.

Not a bad suggestion but as said, they're always on tour.

all them cure followers. I guarantee a lot more people would be interested in tickets if Linkin Park were playing rather than The Cure. Before I googled them i didn't know they even existed. Would be a poor headliner. At least people knew of My chemical romance despite how bad people thought it would have been.
It just doesn't fit the typical Reading audience.

Favourite post on this forum ever, even above the person suggesting on the T forum Bruce Springstein would headline the NME at T.
You've brought much joy to my life, well done.
With regards to Linkin Park, really? As said, they were decent a while back, but they've toured relentlessly for a long time now. I can't see it happening for a long time.

Fair enough maybe i did take it abit too far but I do think that with Glastonbury not on there was a larger scope to approach huge bands such as the foo's. After reading last year I was hoping for Foo's, Green day and Red hot Chilli's (Not knowing how bad they were live from reviews from the last time they played Reading) just wanted to see them.
I did recognise some of the cure songs though. Mainly from watching the inbetweeners end theme songs. Anyway if they did play I think il be at the NME whoever it is. Im sure some people would like the cure to headline but some people won't but thats how it would be for whoever gets chosen.
Sorry if i caused harm with my comments. I think some people just take things too far with the comments I have received here.
