Gothenburg is right don't make up your prices before you work out how much its going to cost you.

Once you factor in pitch, diesel, staff, ingredients, condiments, paper cups, napkins, paper plates and all the other gumf you might find that £4 is a bit cheap.

Getting a good plot is valuable, at a festival I go to every year that holds around 2000 people, there was a thai food guy who served the greatest thai ommlette and toast for something like £1.50. his food was awesome and he was the cheapest on site, in the end he had to resort to selling cans and tea around the campsite on monday morning (and you can't do that at rockness) to make some real dough.

Don't want to put you off, just want to give you an idea of what to expect.

At the end of the day I hate the sight of a burger van. So will encourage anything that isn't one of them, especially one that charges £2 for a can of Irn Bru and £2 for a roll and tattie scone (one slice of tattie scone)

We have not fixed prices yet, just going on what we have already been told about site fees etc, there is a lot to take into account and not guarantee we will even get a pitch! Hopefully though!!

Dont know how this would work with the the curry but at TITP the busiest queues were the toastie vans especially in the morning, not sure if Rockness already has something like this but if not that certainly would attract a good few customers

Please do a few vegetarian options.. there isn't much choice at Rockness for vegetarians. There was a nice wee vegetarian/vegan stall the year before last but I failed to find it last year (probably most to do with intoxication) but to be honest they did not really have much of a choice and the amount of food you got for your money was pretty poor..

I will definitely be visiting your stall if you are going to be selling a vege curry and pita for £4!

Good luck :)

Perhaps we were in a parallel universe during last years event. I seem to remember eating great vegetarian food all weekend at the veggi van opposite arcadia. As a strict vegetarian the worst thing you can have is vegetarian options from a meat van. My advice is to stick to one or the other.

tell them to email traders@loudsound.net

speak to hannah who runs all the traders and she'll be happy to help and give some advice.

we're always keen to see new traders but tell your friend that its more costly that you think. food, power, fuel, staffing costs etc are really high.

also need to remember that doing a small number of shows is hard to make work as you can have some high equipment outlays, so you'll need a few shows to make it work financially and even then like any business involving food its very competetive.

most importantly and to avoid a big outlay, you need something that quick to make and doesnt take a lot of prep, storage and staff.

id have a look at how some of the stalls in the highland food village do it.  small indie operators serving really good fresh food but they have fairly low costs.

dont chase big shows. the fees are incredible high (hence why its mostly burger vans). concentrate on smaller indie shows.

good luck.
