I am considering going to Benicassim this year but wanted to know from people who have been in the past why I should go to Benicassim instead of another European festival??? Any info or past experiences would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you!!!

My friends say its a holiday instead of a festival.

My favourite festival. Great atmosphere, full of English but without all the things you hate about English festivals (rain, massive queues at the bars, concentration camp toilets, camping c**ts). Brilliant line-up every year to boot, too. Highly recommend.

You might want to make your decision based largely on whether you regard "full of English" as being a good thing or a bad thing...

It's fairly expensive as European festivals go though. You could probably get a better lineup for your money at one of the less popular festivals. I think most people see Beni as a nice beach holiday with some bands thrown in.

Optimus Alive in Lisbon is the same weekend and you could argue that the line-up is going to be bigger (Florence and The Machine are headlining at Benicassim, whereas at Optimus they're only subbing below The Cure - other two headliners are Stone Roses and Radiohead). Tickets are only £100 (with fees etc included) for three days. Plus Portugal is generally cheaper than Spain (for accommodation, booze, etc).

Dont think Florence and the Machine are headlining Beni. So far its Stone Roses and Noel Gallagher according to fib but we will see

FIB only getting started around midnight when others are winding down is reason enough. Was at Rock en Seine last year and FIB the previous two years and all were good but was slightly disappointing at Rock en Seine for the music to be ending at midnight when FIB would have another 6 or 7 hours to go!

Great atmosphere. You get more out of a festival abroad than you do in the UK. warmer weather, more value for your money because its a longer festival, more of a holiday than just a festival, great lineup each year and Beni as a place is lovely!!
