Hey peeps! It'll be my first download this year - just wondering if there's a quieter campsite seen as Family camping's all gone now? I heard that some of the campsites don't open until the friday once all the others are filled up but I'll definitely need some shut-eye after driving down from Aberdeen! Any help is much appreciated!

We go down from Moray but always get a cheap travel lodge or similar on the Thurs night and arriveasearly as possible on Fri at Download. The £19 jobs they have been selling have worked perfectly for us. Dunno about the campsite though, we're in the campervan field.

The further you are away from the arena the quieter it will be.
If you're worried about sleeping, just get ear plugs, and you'll be tired and probably drunk so you'll sleep fine.

If its not when you're trying to sleep, people aren't that loud anyway, might be a bit of stupid shouting here and there and people playing music but that ain't that loud either, not as if they have full entertainment systems

Thank you all! I'm just notoriously bad at managing to sleep at festivals not matter how drunk I am so ear plugs may be for the best...! Or maybe I should just get drunker...?! Haha!

A ton, and worth every penny IMHO.

You get a cash bar to the side of the main stage with a massive picnic area and a huge fancy tent full of beanbags, settees, barstools etc, fantastic toilets, dedicated BBQ stand cooked to order, a dedicated entrance and exit to the arena (no queueing!) and a really really chilled place to hang out and watch the world go by. Bands pass through, media types sip lattes whilst writing w*nk on the MacBooks, and if you don't fancy any of the stages it's a great place to spend a coupla hours. This will be my 3rd year in there, I wouldn't go without again.

I remember you used to get all that for £10 plus entry into the after show. I think it was through kerrang at one of the ozzfests. :)

Worth a tenner, not a ton. Maybe Kili have set the pricing structure for it. :P

I didn't even know about this, and I'm a DL regular. Hmmm, but there's two of us, so £198, you can buy a lot of beer in the plebs bars for that. Nope, pass on that, maybe next year.

£100 for admission to a bar in a field?! I'm sorry, but that just sounds crazy to me!

Yep exactly, paying that to be able to use a bar that you can use cash in? And some cleaner toilets and a place to sit. Proves people have more money than sense.

Agree. That's a lot of beer tokens wasted on the chance of hobnobbing with a load of up their own arse hanger onners.

dont knock it till you've tried it, hundreds of people pay double for download every year to go in RIP.

im not "well off" by any stretch, but if i can afford a luxury from time to time, I'm all for it. i can easily spunk a ton on a night out, so its not a massive sum of money.

I personally need somewhere to sit down for a breather every now and then as usually up on my feet early and it can be a long day!.  Most places I go to have this (covered bars eg) but Sonisphere had nothing up by the main stages and it rained later on the last day (so the floor was not an option).  Does Download have anywhere or are the bars total front facing with no cover as per Sonisphere (apart from th small stages of course).

Non of the bars are covered and it's miles back to the campsite, so i'd suggest a good set of waterproofs and a decent poncho if it does look like rain
