Depends what you're looking for from a festival, if its purely line up based and you like V's line up, go V. It opens Friday morning and Friday they have DJ's playing and then the main line ups are Saturday and Sunday.

Ive been to V 7 times and Reading twice. Reading camping for me was too many kids going crazy on their first weekend away from mom, first time I went was 2002 and it was nothing like that but in 2005 it was.

In the end ive started going Download, and its the best of the three by far. Take a look at Download line up, if you like it, maybe try that. You go Weds morning and come back Mon, much like Glasto.

Id also recommend TITP if you're willing to go Scotland, its a mix of acts between Reading and V. Ive done that twice, and really enjoyed both times I went.

In the end Id say go to as many fests as possible and see what you like

yeah im a huuuuuuuuuuuge prodigy fan and id love to see them live so much, generally im not into pop music much at all, but i want it to be something she'd enjoy too, and shes not really into heavy stuff, im just kind of worried about all the piss throwing and kids destroying tents that ive heard about with v, do both reading and v sell out fast?

V sold out very fast this year. Reading was very slow but that was mainly down to a fairly poor line-up.

It's calmed down a lot since 2005, still lots of teens but less aggro. Whether that's because the annual "lets fuck up the campsite on Sunday" has been removed or the line up has attracted a different group. 2005 was downright dangerous & perhaps 2006 was worse. 2009 was pretty bad for tent burning. Got to admit some of the party atmosphere has gone from the Sunday night & I'm not a fan but if it gets rid of the riots then fair enough. It got better last year but I miss trolley.

Reading only sold out just before the festival (first time that's happened for a while).

V sold out in minutes (I believe).

Got a feeling R&L have got a set of headliners that are going to be popular with the age group that usually go (indie, indie dance & Foo Fighters) & popular with the few Southerners leftover that may have gone to Glasto (Kasabian) so will sell out much quicker this year.

Im not sure Reading could get an announcement strong enough to pull me back to be honest Couchy. Or V for that matter, V is too much money for what it is.

I say I'm not going every year, & end up going. Always get a less than face value ticket off eBay & is easy to get to for me.

Fortunate enough to camp in a relatively quiet area out of the way of the carnage but still close enough to the action but I've definitely grown out of what I thought was fun when I first went after going to Glasto & Bestival, if it still happened now I would not attend.

I can totally understand why festival enthusiasts slag it off & but I still reckon there's more positives than negatives, I just make sure I'm going to another festival.
