Then, he says, there's the issue of how to define rock: is it just guitar bands? He points out that hugely successful dance acts such as Nero, Chase & Status, Skrillex and Pendulum blend rock with electronica. Pendulum played at the Download heavy metal festival last year, and Skrillex has been booked for this year's other big metal festival, Sonisphere.

so they arent confirmed yet then?
"confirmed" means that the organisers have announced them.
a kerrang radio DJ confirmed loads of bands the other day, simply because they had seen that fake poster thats floating around.

It wouldn't be that surprising really. It's not like they are headlining so it's likely they will be confirmed after the headliners.
Here's Hoping
Blink 182 and Rise Against for Friday
Foo Fighters and Tenacious D for Saturday
Van Halen and Kiss for Sunday

I don't think there's a chance in hell Tenacious D will do both Download and Soni.

Thought he might do Download, knew he'd do one of the two rock festivals anyway.
I'll see him if I go Soni.
