I'm not usually one to post leaks I haven't heard or seen myself, but someone twitter has just said;
"Was there just an accidental #DL2012 lineup on Kerrang? Limp Bizkit, Motley Crue, Evanescence, Slash & Myles & more??"
I replied to the guy asking about it and he said;
"Apparently they were discussing a competition to win tickets and she listed off a bunch of bands playing"
So what do we reckon?! Motley Crue or Slash in the Friday 2nd stage headliner slot, Evanescence or Limp Bizkit in the Sunday 2nd stage headliner slot. Sounds possible as all of those bands are rumoured but I would be amazed and ecstatic if they manage to get them all! Would make it the biggest and best line up ever.

If true, it's almost been done purposely to get people thinking about it before the Soni announcement.

Oh dear, I'm guessing that this Kerrang! radio presenter has simply looked at the FAKE poster that's been doing the rounds for almost a week now....

They said Foo Fighters were playing last year, and that was wrong (they obviously got it mixed up with IOW) dont believe anything that say unless its "official" tbh.

Kerrang seems to be as unreliable as ThrashHits, NME or I'M A DESPERATE SPAMMER.
Edit: hey I typed the name of a rival festival site and it replaced it with 'I'M A DESPERATE SPAMMER'! It began with a v and that was followed by an i, r, t, u...

It got set as that when they had the 'bright' idea to run ticket competitions where the person who spammed about that site the most got to win tickets. Because here was an obvious target for that spamming I got fed up with deleting the posts and put that filter in place.
The filter for that site had been removed after I'd met the new owners of that site and they'd told me 'honestly' that they were good guys with the utmost integrity, and I took them at their word. The reality has been that they're even bigger shitsters than the previous owner.

Kerrang radio can be hit or miss
They said Muse were headlining V months before they were announced the other year, but that was Stuart Cable [RIP] who only knew because Stereophonics were also playing and they'd told him.
They also leaked Lostprophets as Main Stage headliner for Download 2008 a whole year before the event, I don't care what anyone says happened that a different band pulled out and they stepped up, it didn't happen, The band themselves were being interviewed on Kerrang and they were asked would you ever play download and they said they would only play if they got given headliner and they got given it. True story.
There's other things they've leaked which were right and others wrong, but those too were the ones that stand out in my memory

I'm sorry but I don't think Andy would have booked Lostprophets to headline a whole year in advance, they're not that popular and not after the shit storm MCR caused in 2007. I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that in 08 the headliners were scheduled to be: Rammstein, Foo Fighters & RATM. Kiss were turned away, then Rammstein decided to go back in the studio, Foo Fighters chose to do their own shows & RATM were nabbed by R/L. Thus KISS were asked back, but could only do the Fri & the other two subs were bumped up.
Unless you have some inside knowledge nobody else knows?

Dyou have inside knowledge? Cos that sounds like a very detailed account of who was booked that year. I wasn't really following festivals at that point but surely that speculation? Unless the organisers came out and said that they fucked up and they had to settle for 2nd best. Honestly it sounds more likely that AC saw LP were planning on having a new album out, and after a very successful album prior, they could become huge in that time.

All im saying is the band themselves were on Kerrang and said they were headlining download next year, then what happened? They headlined.
Black Sabbath were booked this time last year, I know the difference between size of those two acts but im just saying he does book early.
Anyway it wouldn't be a year in advance of the time he starts booking, of course he books headliners early, every year Id say he tries to book headliners 6-8 months in advance minimum, hell he announced all 3 headliners this year 8 months in advance. Lostprophets were on the rise that year and he probably thought i'll book them as exclusive as headliner. He was probably doing it to try and get one over on Reading who were his main competitor at the time and try and get their audience, Reading got him back and stole his potential headliners

I'm going to Reading and Download too this summer. I'm certain it will be extremely beneficial.

But Live Nation and Festival Republic are essentially the same company, are they not?

They owe a 50.1% stake in Festival Republic, but I don't believe they have anything to do with the bookings. Thats all Melvin, much like Download is Andy

Melvin Benn only gets involved with headliners (and maybe high profile bands slightly lower), he doesn't book the vast majority of the bill.
