Just got bored on youtube and typed in Glastonbury documentaries, and this one came up, don't think it's been posted here before but it's bloody great!

Not wrong there!! Brilliant find, not seen that one before either and just had to watch the whole thing once I started!!

Really sad in parts about he felt about Jean at the time, but it just shows much character and real love goes into the festival really well I think :)

That her land with the tents? Does she run some kind of private campsite thing on it?!

Thanks for that,  a really interesting find that i had not seen before. Its rather sad in parts when he talks about his wife June. Michael is now 76 years ols, and it can't be very long now until he packs it all in . Whether or not Emily would decide to take up  the riens is unsure and although this documentary was filmed about 12 years ago, the death or retirment of her father might stop her from wanting to proceed any futher with the festival. I know others have said that it is more her life than the farm, but i am not sure. How many years have we left? Its sad to think of the festival coming to an end any time soon.

I cant see that being a concern for the near future - Emily is far more interested in the festival than the farm as a farm i believe - secondly, lets not forget this is her job..so she does have a salary one which I suspect she would be hard pressed to make in a normal job  so there's also the money aspect of it for her too

Brilliant documentary, makes me wonder where the festival will be 10 years from now. I'm guessing Emily will be more than happy to take it on, what path she will take remains to be seen...

well spotted

it was good to see it again - I have it on  VHS tape  - I think BBC2 slipped it in late one night .

I also have the originol documentry which was about Glastonbury Fayre http://en.wikipedia....astonbury_Fayre

it was because of that documentary why I started going in 1979 { there was no official events held between 1971 and 1979 although some people showed up in 1978 { estimated 500 people }

I still have my ticket from 1979 - it cost £5 - Peter Gabriel, Steve Hillage, Alex Harvey Band now that was a line up.

Each year I have wondered will it be the last - came very close just before the super fence was put up as I know Michael thru my connections with the WBC and he was being serious so never expected for Glasto to be still here.

Steve Hillage still goes most years? I've seen him a few times at least as system 7 :)

yes I was aware I have seen him a few times at Glasto and Reading - well seen is not the correct word - heard would be more precise as its normally packed out so did not have to time to get there early - I doubt if I would recognise him anyway as he must have changed a lot.
