I know this may ruffle a few feathers and i don't want to f**k anyone off
but have noticed more and more of my pals abondoning T and heading to rockness instead and me personally after 2 years at t and 2 at rockness i feel rockness is a better all round festival which but everyone to there own i suppose eh ? just wondering if there was anyone else who was giving to T a miss and heading to rockness ? In my opinion if you do you want regret .Better of just going to both though

couldnt agree more, Rockness is a far better festival in the essence of festivals. it is what T in the park was like before it turned into a money making machine and Geoff concerned more about lining his pockets than his punters!!
Ive done 10 T's starting back in '95 and the last 2006.
I'll be at Rockness this year for the 4th time and I know it will be far better than the T experinence!!

^^^^^^^^^^ This
Still go to T every year i can manage as with Rockness because i love festivals but overall Rockness outshines T without a doubt

Watched the highlights on TV last year on the thought of going this year and tbh it actually put me off it a bit.
All I saw was mosh pits and more mosh pits. These were during performances that you would least expect to see a "mosh pit" and the crowds looked very average at best. I know it dosn't get as much TV coverage as the likes of TITP, IOW etc does but in my opinion it didn't look up to much. I'd still consider it in the future but just in my opinion the telly coverage dosn't do it any justice or make me want to book a ticket straight away.
The location does look amazing though. And the student deals and ticket prices are obviously also a bonus

Went to my first Rockness last year, both fests have their good and bad points really. As noted Rockness has a more festival 'feel' to it, and the location really is stunning, the main issue I had with it is the booking of acts and where they play (one of my main complaints was that the placing of when/where acts played sometimes made their bigger stages look deserted) that and I'm not too into dance stuff that it mostly has (if I was the booker I'd be going down more the Bestival route, which would also mean the lineup gets less repetive) but with the atmosphere being mostly chilled its a nice weekend. Will be my tenth T this year so not losing faith in it yet, but feel slightly older with every visit, well known that it isnt cheap but if you really want to get your moneys worth in terms of acts (which I do usually, which leads me to never understand those that sit in the campsite all weekend...) then its still a great weekend.

This is the main reason I would probably never go to Rockness, sure TITP has its fair share of dance but RN seems to be 70% of dance

That is because its a predominantly a dance festival, and I hope it stays that way

They're two completely different festivals in my opinion. There's no point in comparing them.

Missed T for the first time in about 6 or 7 years last year.
Went to Rockness for the friday and saturday, Kasabian and Chem Bros.
Went in, went out and spent the day with our pals and neighbours and the following day were left with the comedy tent (excellent).
Compared to T as a music festival its poor. A bit more alive at night but pretty tragic during the day. There is hardly a time at any T that I can remember, not wanting to go check out some band or body.
No T again for me this year as it costs us a fortune. Fancy Wickerman again and one of these days I'm going to get down to Soni/DL.
Oh and Rockness has a massive Police presence. Campsite and run the gauntlet on your way in (I don't partake but I still got huckled by a lovely labrador, presumably because a neighbour had smoked a single skinner in my vicinity! Other neighbours got raided and completely stuffed by undercovers.) Cops must have made a fortune!

I decided last year was my last ever T.
I have gone every year since it moved to balado.
However the amount of kids that are there blocking the front of stages talking mid sets (they were even straightening their hair during Tom Jones!!!)
The place is as mentioned many many times to business and corporate.
I remember it being rare to see vip bands on anyone, not so anymore.
It is far too packed I know they are re-jigging the layout to accommodate the extra 10,000 this year but I dont see how it can make a difference as last year was cramped enough.
I have never had complaint about the line up or lack of who you can see at any given time, but Rockness gives you "social" things you can do between acts.
I am not going to Rockness either but if I was given a choice I think it would go to rockness this year for me even though I anticipate T will have the greatest line up they've ever achieved if Stone Roses are anything to go by.
I think they may get Linkin Park Paul McCarteney and Rihanna this year.

This one isn't exlusive to T In the Park to be fair, more and more of this happening across festivals as they try to attract bigger and bigger crowds with more poppy acts.

I went to 6 TITPS and its no coincidence that I stopped going when I started going to Rockness/Glastonbury. TITP is just one bloated, well slicked cash cow these days.
TITP does tend to have a line-up that's second to none though but I'm the sort of person who goes to festivals for the crack, I'm happy with 2-3 acts a day which every festival line-up in the UK has so it doesn't come into it for me. TITP as a festival is sh*te though, feels like a cattle market. It catered to the "I've just started drinking/doing drugs, lets get f*cked and cause havoc" teenage me and that's what TITP is to me, teenage angst...you grow out of it.
Have to say everyone should try TITP at least once in their lives, the crowds tend to be right up for it(even when fool of c*nts)but my money is better spent elsewhere! Fill yer boots people...

See this is the thing, I've heard mixed reviews on it but I really want to give it a go at least one and it may only be one due to the distance. Rockness I've heard is a better festival but T does have a better lineup usually, although Rockness in 2010 was very good.

See I go to Leeds fest every year and have tried V Fest and Soni days, Download for a weekend, Glasto and Soni.
I don't know what to expect compared to Leeds. I was going to hold off till next year but I have like around 3 possibilities that weekend

Never been to Leeds or Reading but from what i've heard TITP has less c**ts than Leeds especially, its really just you're luck if you run into any arseholes, I've never encountered any people just wanting a fight at TITP infact I've found the crowds to be generally quite friendly and always up for a party (like most Scots are) but i'm not denying there will be the odd dick there out to cause a riot just cause he thinks he's hard but if you can avoid confrontation then its not really a problem

Went to Reading last year, just to avoid the w*nkers, and it worked. Reading had pretty much no c*nts there, like a sunnier T in the Park 2011 with a worse line-up.
