Ed209, on 13 January 2012 - 03:56 PM, said:so the answer to a sexist world is more sexism? Pleeeeaaase!!!!If everyone's enjoying it, what harm is there. These girls are not forced into it. You'll be surprised, but some girls love doing this kind of thing. They enjoy being perved at and crave the power they have over men
The harm comes in detatched forms - everything from rape downwards. Where we each fall on the sexism scale as a result will of course vary, but none of us are immune from the effects of the sexist society we live in, and nothing of it makes the world a better place.

Sorry, am I not allowed to use the word 'they' anymore? Even though I predefined the subject of the post and then switched to the third person personal pro-noun for short hand.
Well strike me down
They probably wouldn't be working for apple for free, no. It seems to me as though you think these girls are enslaved in a job which they hate. Its there own personal choice, and I'm sure many of them love their job, probably a damn sight more than many people who do 'respectable' proper jobs in an office or factory, or whatever company is bleeding their soul dry.

Try joining up the dots, eh?
I wouldn't say that, I know a girl that works in a very conservative job and on the weekend nights she goes out with her with cleavage out and legs on display to let loose and enjoy herself.

While us men are all led by our cocks at times I can't work out if I should resign myself to this sort of narrow stupidity or join tony in crying. It's one thing to be led by our cocks but another entirely to not be able to see what's going on.

The tits and arse might make to take interest in the product... Thats more about biology and primal instincts...
The tits and arse won't make be buy the product...

Then they become the ones who do the perving, because it gives them a sense of control.
Or that could be just me.
This thing about women controlling men by being sex objects - I understand what you mean, and I can remember the revelation as a teenager, of realising that paying a guy attention would get you what you wanted (into the gang, in my case) but it's a very limited sort of power really. I was never really a fully-fledged member of the male (except for me) group I was in, I'd get accepted so far, and then there'd be 'why are you hanging out with us then, which if us do you fancy' type stuff.
I can remember being about 14, with very short hair, and hanging around a local park, wearing a leather bomber jacket. For a few happy minutes, a couple of lads came up, didn't realise I was a girl (till I opened my mouth to answer them) and I was treated like one of them.
The use of women in these promotional exercises makes me as a woman feel excluded.

If they used them in ads aimed at household products, I might feel more interested in doing housework!
They did have an ad on TV, didn't they, where they switched a row of women doing aerobics with a group of men. And another, where there was this hunky guy who winked at you at the end.
don't know what they were advertising though. So much for conditioning!

The danger in that is the different meanings and motives assigned to sexy attire. The girl does it to feel attractive, the male thinks she's signalling availability. She might have one specific person in mind, but men tend to read her as being on the pull.
