Pretty sure they do a quick search of everyone (I know they do at RockNess)

They don't do quick searches of everyone. If you have a bottle of pop or something they'll smell it, which happened to my DIET COKE and the guy said it had vodka in. I was rather angered, as it didn't, but it's his job, so...

A couple of years ago they took an unopened bottle of water off me at the day gates to the arena - they said it was too big a bottle?

I had a couple of tins of lager in my jacket pocket and they didn't spot that.

Best one I had was about 6 years ago, steward tells me that I can't take an unopened bottle of water in to the arena as it could hurt someone if I threw it into a crowd of people!

When I asked what I should do with it he replied empty it out, take the empty bottle in and fill it at the water points.

I asked him if the t in the park water was considerably lighter than the water in my unopened bottle,

Look of confusion!

So I asked if I take an empty bottle in fill it up then throw it into a crowd, will it hurt alot less?

Still look of confusion!

I joined another line and was let in with half a dozen cans, half a litre of vodka and my unopened bottle of water

just take what you need

i took a bag pack, my tent and a box with a trolley with provisions in it
take as many clothes as you think you need but don't go crazy ..

and i wouldn't recommend taking a rucksack into the arena. I think it would get tiring over the whole day

Well your clothes, but don't go to mad just two pairs of jeans (incase one pair get wet), t-shirts undergarments to cover you etc..

Wellies/Waterproof Boots
Rucksack
Tent (Get a 4 man for two people, 3 man you will fit but its not comfy :P)
Waterproof Jacket (You can do the shity poncho route if you really want)
Booze
Deodorant
Baby Wipes
Toilet Paper
Gaffer Tape!!! (Good in all sorts of siutations, zip broke on the outter sheet of my tent last year during a massive downpour, managed to tape the door together from the inside :P)
Mallet, for tent pegs/intruders
Decent sleeping bag and some sort of decent blow up bed/camping mat, the difference this makes to your sleep is amazing plus keeps you off the cold ground a bit
Water container
Fabric Conditioner Bottle (For when you really cba getting up in the middle of the night in the cold to go a toilet, empty in a toilet please!)

Then you be about set :P you can always go with just the shirt on your back but thats pretty what I take as essentials :P

This. My back breaks if I end up standing watching bands for a while along with a half hour delay between bands, so if I had added weight of a backpack I reckon I would be struggling

Last year i camped in Purple 2, it was brilliant took just enough clothes, although on the last night when we had that torrential downpour some fucker slashed our tent when we were at Calvin Harris but as i was drunk i seen the funny side(just)

When i was there it seemed that the campsite next to the Boom Bus looked the most relaxed, best to sleep in. As for the arena i simply held some cans in my hand and walked straight by the security guards , they didnt seem too bothered so i suppose its just your luck .

Empty 4 pint milk carton/ large fabric conditioner bottle/ empty bucket, is my essential, the thought of getting clothes and boots on at 4 in the morning when it's freezing and you are bursting!! For a pish is not funny, slop out in the morning
