Why would the Scream be more likely to play R/L if Roses are headlining V? It's not like Mani will want to avoid them?

I never said more likely, Primal were 2nd stage headliners at v last year so wouldnt think they would play again this year

The Maccabees
TDCC

Enter Shikari
The Subways

Lostprophets
Ed Sheeran

I can see TDCC headlining it but also see The Maccabees back there and can't see a main stage place as they did it last time, but for R&L to really make it stronger, they could opt for this.

Enter Shikari, played main and nme sub before with a big crowd. Up against a fairly huge headliner, this would work, if Jay Z or The Killers would do it, but also at R&L, Bloc Party probably would.

Prophets I think this is ideal, they'll need a killer new album to move upto 3rd and I hope R&L just book someone more deserving.

Well why does the Roses headlining V have anything to do with it then?

Ye, that flows well... Why is Ed Sheeran even getting predicted? He's a pop act.

He's played recently, every reason why getting bigger would get him there again. the tent was rammed for him last time. It flows better than having him under Enter Shikari.

Or rather every reason why getting bigger would get him to play V instead.

It would that too but as I'm discussing it on a R&L thread. If i was for V, I may well go into V forum and says can see Ed Sheeran playing such and such. Be he's still very popular with the R&L guys.

To be honest mate, if I didn't have The Maccabees and TDCC have I have, then I'd have Ed below whichever one was there.

A pretty huge pop act that would probably appeal to the school leaver-type crowd.

ed sheeran could easily play reading/leeds in a early evening slot on nme, but think hes going to play in a pretty high plce at v.

lets be honest r&l is turning into v was 10 years ago anyway and v is turning into t4 on the beach.

I must have too much faith in the youth of today then.... He sounds like a straight up chart act - having just gone and checked, the NME slated his album and Drowned in Sound didn't bother to review it. I would be surprised and slightly appalled if he was booked again for R&L.

For an ugly prick he's got lots of screaming girls after him. You know, those ones with the festival hats and colourful wellies? Pretty sure they make up a decent proportion of the R/L crowd these days. I do feel like it's got much more of (what I considered) a V crowd now as thetime pointed out.

Haha, I wouldn't think Drowned In Sound would even bother looking at it lol

But as the time said that he could play a really high slot at V, why would he bother with the kind of slot being suggested for R&L?

Given the way he's exploded in the past year I would have thought he'd want to play wherever he could - he seems like a very humble person so I doubt he'd turn down any slot. Obviously if V offer him a higher slot he'd likely take that one but if Melvin wanted him in a don't see any reason why he wouldn't play.

Rammed is an understatement, it was manic :sarcastic:

Indeed, dunno where you were but I was at Leeds as just saw the end of their set in time for Pendulum who was equally packed. I've heard though that Mumford & Sons had the biggest crowd in NME all weekend but not seen the facts myself.

There defo needs to be some improvement in who does actually go in NME tent against who and who actually should just be outside.

Would it be a bad move to put them up against the Foo Fighters?

I wouldn't say it's got more of a V crowd, just a larger proportion of younger people of school leaver age going. There aren't many "chavs" at Reading anyway.

Young girls bum Ed Sheeran right now, the tent was rammed with teenage fanny at Bestival.
