First of all hello! It's been a while since i last posted.

Due to the absence of Glastonbury this year I bought a TITP ticket with Thurs camping at the end of November. Now what I want to know is how it compares to glasto? Bacially just some pros and cons of the festival would be brill. and once there is everything about the same price as at glasto?

Thanks :)

It is nothing like Glasto apart from there's a load of bands playing.

Pros

The crowd are well up for it and are pretty crazy.
You get a good selection of acts and it's alot easier to catch bands than it is at Glasto as there's less stages and the site's smaller.

Cons

You have a campsite and an arena (like most fests) so no carrying your own booze around, unless you manage to sneak it in.
The selection of food is pretty poor. The Healthy T bit is ok but apart from that it's the usual burger vans etc...
The selection of booze is awful.
You get alot of arseholes going, most people are ok but some are just oout to get as drunk and take as much drugs as humanly possible (I know you get this at most fests but TITP seems alot worse for it)
The campsite entertainment is virtually non existant.
It can be very expensive.
You have to carry your ticket at all times as it will be checked every time you enter or leave the arena. Lose it and you're fucked.

I know I've came out with alot of negatives but it's still a decent festival and unless you get unlucky you will have a good time.

Rexclark summed it up pretty nicely, though I found there seemed to be much fewer twats about this year than there was in 2010, was very friendly. Also the food is better than some of the other major festivals, doesn't compared with Glasto's range but wouldn't say it's particularly bad.

Better than R&L or just bigger. T feels like a fest I need to do

I really enjoyed T. They have a crazy amount of acts, and you stand a reasonable time of catching most of the ones you want to see.

Probably the worst out of the bigger festivals to choose from as a replacement in my opinion. Although Rexclark sums it up pretty well, I just don't like the festival or a large amount of attendees behaviour, so would rather spend that much money going to a couple of smaller festivals instead.

Once there, you are looking at similar prices for food/drink though, but as you need to buy drink in the 'arena', you will spend a lot more if used to taking alot of your own booze/food to glasto.

Not much to do there non-music based, so yeah if you just want music then you probably will enjoy it, as long as you don't get drowned in piss by the cup-load.

Thanks guys. I'm vegetarian, is that going to be a pain?

I know about the arena, and i hate the idea. i mean at glasto i often walk down from my tent to the stages with a beer/spliff and its just not going to happen at T i hardy ever buy from the bars either apart from a good few pints of local cider.

I think Healthy T had a couple of options. (and I would recommend the meat eaters exclusively eat there apart from the Toastie van xD)

I liked it when I went in 09, sometimes its bit hectic and there are few twats about but most people I met were brilliant and what festival or gathering of people is without twats?. (My neighbors offered me pills every morning, which I don't do but was a nice thought). Bars are a bit annoying and after the main arena finishes not alot to do, they had an indie disco thing when I went that was okish with a few beers for an hour.)

But overall if your going for a weekend of decent music, your in for a treat. Crowds are well up for it :D

Both quite similar but I much prefer Leeds to TITP, more quality over quatity as the line up goes.

Totally agree with everything that has been said, if your looking for a weekend of activities (other than listening to music obviously) then you will be disappointed but they line-up is usually pretty strong and the crowds were far better this year than 2010 so hopefully that continues, Scottish crowds are always crazy so you wont be disappointed by the atmosphere just hopefully you dont encounter any idiots

I am vegi as well. Quite easy to eat in the healthy T area.

As for the drinks inside the arena. Be careful to check both your change and the amount of tokens you get in return. Me and at least 4 of my friends in a group of about 15 noticed especially on the sunday that there were a lot of 'honest mistakes' happening. Quite consistant, as I went to complain, there was a girl who also had it happen to her.

As I said for matters of diplomacy I shall accept that these were honest mistakes.

I really hate the scanning system, especially as they then ask to see the ticket after its been scanned some way up. Also hope the move the slam tent from its back of beyond position.

When you get to T, it is a lot of fun. You can watch some of the greatest bands and for every idiot you meet, you can meet some absolute gems. For me though, the sheer cost of it makes it harder and harder to justify (especially as I get on in years I've seen most of the acts playing before).

See I thought this year T has an awesome lineup and in 09 it was. 10 was slightly off the radar for me I think but R&L was epic for me.

Leeds at night really just has silent disco, dj's playing in the campsites, piccadilly party is good :). But I also like the big village bit on your way to the arena and thursday night in the arena an be fun.

Reading doesn't have the piccadilly party but I think if it's still there they use the venue just round from red camping for club nights?

T have anything like this?

Just feels like as it's 20th Anniversary next year it's something gotta be done but it is a trek for me to go

It has an indie disco that was formerly sponsored by NoTW and a silent disco..ti like 1/2am...

and oh the boom bass, which seem full of people looking hard and asking if i supported Celtic or rangers... (I was massively drunk at the time and had just come down with the shits to top it off, so got scared and ran off :P)

and oh some redbull dj thing but i never went to that. again stops fairly early.

The problem with this is people like that can turn nasty very quickly and that's the big problem with TITP.

Cant really say crystal meth is something I'm into. Each to their own and all that.
Well I see its not going to be a Glastonbury replacement, that's for sure.
I think I'm going to have to stop comparing it to Glasto and just wing it. Any tips in regards to camping?

You'll be fine, the stewards don't seem terribly bright, that or they just can't be arsed, but by the Sunday of last year my and my mate just walked through carrying our tins and I don't think they'll bother much about spliffs.
If you'r scared about getting caught shove a couple of tins in your pockets and you'll be fine, Me and my mate were sneaking 7/8  tins in at a time without any hassle, happy days!

If you go up to have a good time you'll have a good time, simples ^_^

The last few are true but vaguely personal opinion (Some people may think a tennants as the only larger is fine :P), the first one is what I want to hear why your wrong about  as that's a solid fact :P
