I see they have just anounced a couple of shows in Europe on the 27th and 29th of August. That leaves a nice big Leeds and Reading sized space just before that. Anybody interested in seeing them return?

the UK shows they've already announced are their only UK shows next year.

The reason why I didn't bother that year. Nope nope nope & won't happen.
Didn't Melvin Benn "ban" them?

No, he said that one of the headliners they booked that year was for the wrong reasons (ie the biggest rather than the best) and they wouldn't make that mistake again.
So if there's ever a time that you don't think that the R&L headliners are big enough, blame RHCP.

To be fair to them, i've seen them 4 times and that performance at Leeds in 07 was the only time they were poor. I think it was the last show of a 2 year tour and John Frusciante left the band soon after. I think it's safe 2 say all was not well. Having said that i can see why people wouldn't want them back after what was a huge let down.
To be honest i wouldn't mind seeing them back, if only to make a mends (which i'm sure they would) for that show in 07.

i'd watch them if they played again and there was nothing else on because they do have a lot of good material but i agree with the above in that the 07 performance is one of the worst i;ve seen at leeds

They weren't that good in 2000 either - seemed very self indulgent - more for themselves than the crowd.

Not only were they turgid in 2007, they were painfully boring, my mate fell asleep in his camp chair watching them.

I remember the crowd being really dense for them too and being full of shits complaining about Arcade Fire and I almost got into a fight with some twat who was trying to set fire to someone's shirt.
I am tempted to get tixs for the Knebworth show as they going cheap just to see Dizzee subbing.

Where are these cheap tickets you speak of?! I wouldn't mind going to see them, I saw them in Manchester but they didn't play Scar Tissue, in fact the whole setlist was shite. I'm sure it'd be better at a big outdoor event, like knebworth.
