I don't think it will be tool, largely because it genuinely seems too good to be true for the three headliners to be that impressive! (I know I know, Metallica are over here all the time, but come on, it IS Metallica, and it has been a long time since they played Download!)

I agree. I'm not holding out much hope for the 3rd headliner as the 2 we have are so awesome. At this stage, Machine Head could headline and I wouldn't care. :D

I for one would be pleased, they did a great headline set a few years back. Was it 2006 ?

I'd be delighted with machine head!

Seriously though, looking at the last few years what with your Linkin Parks, Def Leppards, and Def Leppards I'm not convinced it's going to be anyone particularly awesome. Machine head second stage to prodigy or muse would appease me though!

Probably next year the third headliner will be announced, they'll let Soni announce some stuff first and then will keep the third headliner back until Feb I reckon, as the ticket prices go up Jan 30th. They'll want something to push with the price increase.

As said above they'll possibly announce some undercard in the meantime however.

Motley Crue and Machinehead are almost guareented to play but their UK tours isn't until mid decemeber, so neither will be anounced until after that and those two will be two of the biggest undercard acts to be announced.

Hey,

I'm new to the forums and to all this festival stuff, and simply going Download because of Metallica :D Anyway, what do you mean prices go up Jan 30th ? From 180 to what ?

And how much are just day tickets and can you just buy them "on the door" ?

The ticket prices are the same as this year when they go on sale this Friday, they will stay at this price until Jan 30th when they go up to 2012 prices, will no doubt be a rise of £10 maybe £20. But it hasn't been confirmed what this new price will be.

Day tickets usually don't go on sale for a while, It all depends how well things sell before you can tell if you can buy on the door, usually yes.

Will the price increase be announced before the 30th Jan or will we just have to wait until then to see it ?

Really hope so. They'd go down pretty well under sabbath or even 2nd stage up against Prodigy...

Can't remember but was the NME article saying TOOL & Blink might be playing before or after the headliners were announced?
