tbh i could see Tool going under Sabbath, just a gut feeling if it were to happen, and well Blink only headlined R&L on the back of reforming, so they have to earn a headlining spot - probably wouldn't get it at download anyway as AC and the booking lot for download would get slated for it..

Can't remember but wasn't the reason Feeder where headlining a few years back because it was orginally meant to be Blink instead but they broke up just before they announced it?

Blink weren't even headline material before they split so not sure how they are now. :D

they headlined r&l on the back of a reunion, as i said, and would have to work to headline again - perform better live & produce a few solid albums.. besides this year they were due to play titp and not headline, so i totally agree with you

how much do you believe this to be true? didnt they headline a few years back so would be a bit of a step backwards. would love it to be true though.

it's not the worst of the rumours they list - we ignored those completely.

Tool not headlining is a crime i even find Blink not headling a bit weird unless it was Glasto maybe but if either of them come here surely it would be to headline a festival.

you say blink not headlining weird, they pulled out of titp this year when they were due to play but not headline.

it happens, and besides the performance they put on at reading last year wasn't worthy of a headlining slot..

I can see why Blink wouldn't headline, they have a full UK arena tour including the 8th & 9th (same dates as Download) so if they play it'll be on the Sunday 10th.

I think it's not so much about how they might have performed in the past it's more about the appeal and success of the band (a bit like RHCP not good live but a huge name) i just feel they are too big not to headline a festival the size of Download but as i said a festival the size of Glasto would be different same applies for titp and maybe reading where i could see them maybe not quite headlining.

people will lose interest in them though, as then people who wanted to see them but couldn't because of the hiatus will have done since, so unless they produce a few good records then they will continue to grow in size..

yeah i know, but because they have the full arena tour around the time of the fest, it lessens the demand for tickets, whereas if the tour was around now they could get away with headlining a fest again

It just doesnt make sense to me that either Tool or Blink wouldnt headline when theyve opted for prodigy, which IMO arent as big. Not saying it wont happen but i would have thought theyd headline if they were playing. hope im wrong about tool want them to play so bad :)

surely blinks arena tour devalues them as a headliner band, meaning they'd take a lower slot

The only way I can see these two MASSIVE acts playing is Tool subbing Sabbath as they seem to have a friendship between them, Tool were 3rd under Sabbath at Ozzfest 2001 and subbed Ozzy at Ozzfest 2002. So maybe Ozzy has asked them personally to sub for them and they're doing it for a friendship thing, plus im sure they'd be paid well.

Blink, maybe they wanted to play whilst they were in the country, would be a nice alternative to Sabbath and if they're second stage headliners against Sabbath the pressure wouldn't be on them too much to do a awesome performance, so they could just turn up take the payday and be shit.

Both acts whilst could headline, it doesn't seem insane that they could take those positions, weren't Blink going to second stage headline at TITP before they pulled out?
