I'm thinking about going and camping the whole 7 days (if anyone thinks this is a bad idea please let me know!) :) As a Glastonbury alternative

Anyone have any idea who might headline? So many bands around this summer; The Boss, Metallica, Bjork, Radiohead, Pearl Jam, Sabbath, Stone Roses, plus a shite load more! I'd like to have them all haha

Seriously though, does anyone remember roughly how much tickets cost last year!?

Having been to Glastonbury every year from 2007 - 2010 and having been to Sziget 2011 (as I missed out on tickets) I can say for sure that it's a good alternative and plan to go again in 2012.  I think I'd be going instead even if Glasto didn't have a year off - I can't be bothered with the hassle of getting tickets and trying to decide on which band I want to see and ending up missing others because it's a bit of a mission getting from the JP stage to the Park when it's busy (might be a sign that I'm getting old!!).

We stayed in a hostel in the city centre this year - the public transport to/from the festival is brilliant and runs 24h and the city pass wrist band means that you don't have to bother with buying tickets for each journey (you can travel by bus, tram, metro, ferry and commuter train). We are tempted to camp this year having been encouraged by conversations with others that were doing so this year and seeing the shaded areas available to camp in.

No idea who's headlining but I'd buy tickets immediately if they announces Bruce and Radiohead. Roll on Sziget 2012!

We were going to go last year aswell but money issues prevented that! Heard nothing but good things! I'll see you all there!

Oh, how do y'all get there? Flying would be the ovbious, but we were thinking train, with a few stopoffs could be fun!

Can you buy alcohol outside from a supermarket and take it in? If not, how much is a pint on the island?

It's forbidden to bring in alcohol, but if you know the tricks it's not that difficult to smuggle it in. I suggest you buy six bottles of water wrapped in plastic, carefully take the two bottles in the middle out of the plastic, fill them with vodka and then put the bottles back into the plastic. Worked twice for me last summer ;)

I believe a pint was 530 Forints, which is exactly 1,50 with the current exchange rate.

Cheers for all the tips so far. The cost of Benicassim was putting me off attending a festival this year, but I am hoping I can get a group together for Sziget. Everything I have read has been positive.

The Stone Roses will be indefinitely a headlining act. Bjork and Skrillex were also announced today. Will Skrillex be a headlining act? I hope not.

I think they've got the line-up for Balaton Sound confused with Sziget.

err not it doesn't - read it - it says:

Skrillex a VOLTon!  = Skrillex for VOLT Fesztivál

Björk a Heineken Balaton Soundon! = Bjork to headline Heineken Balaton Sound

It makes it less likely. Usually non-Hungarian acts do not get booked for more than one of these festivals in one year. However, there have been a few exceptions to that rule in the past, so you can still have some hope.

The Stone Roses, quite a big name in Manchester and surroundings, but not here... Didn't really know them before yesterday, but after spending some time on youtube I have to say their music sounds interesting.

Can't wait until the summer. This will be my 3rd Sziget in a row. Just missed out on Stone Roses tickets for Heaton Park, but seeing them at Sziget will be awesome! Thought that both the city pass and festival cash card they introduced last year were great additions too. Though did miss the old style open air Meduza stage :(
