wot the .....wheres my avatar thing gone can i get it back or do i have to get my son to come and do it for me again ..
not sure i like this  ..

My avatar is now static not animated !

I tried to embed a youtube clip using the usual [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5SX3A-ifME"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5SX3A-ifME[/url] and it didn't like it.

You can do it old son!!

Single click on your name at top right of screen, in dropdown click on My Profile, then click Change my photo, it may still be there but the button next to it is not highlighted. Or search for photo which you should find on your hard drive by selecting choose file, once new photo is uploaded click done!

So easy a girl can do it!!

None of the toolbars appear to be working in the area above, perhaps teething problems?? I have edited your link as there were a few to many characters this now works.

My avatar { which is a small gif } went on the missing list so I uploaded a copy but as you can see its static so if we can get that function back that would be great.

Your old avatar was hosted remotely - here: http://i41.tinypic.com/9tjx9j.gif

Because it was a remote avatar, the upgrade process (which has changed all of the avatar settings, because how avatars are used has changed) couldn't do anything with it, and so all users who had remote avatars now have the default avatar.

You can upload the same pic to be your avatar again, via this link:

You've done that incorrectly - it doesn't need the 'url' parts of that (both at the start and end), only the 'media' parts, with the YouTube URL included between the 'media' start and end tags.

Note that YouTube URLs need to be in the format "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5SX3A-ifME" - which includes the 'watch' part. Just using the direct URL to the video won't work.
