*btw - listened again to Let England Shake today. I continue to be increasingly astonished that so many people on here are 'meh' about this record. Ignoring the obvious influence of the Mercury judges' endorsement, it's just a bloody fantastic album. Knowing now even more about what a lot of you 'like', I really feel some of you need to give this another go. I'd go so far as saying superb.

RL are you after my job? I haven't heard RF yet but isnt it supposed to be a partially spoken album (if that is the right terminology of which I am sure someone will correct me)

Miss B your first timeness is accepted, be kind to her guys!!! and several people seem to have forgotten who played before anyway, I would love to see Low again, EoTR not their best performance, have seen them play last year and they were amazing. I am not such a great fan of Kimya but Adam Green was such good fun last year....

So many bands.... never enough time!!!!!

Lucinda Williams would make a great Sunday headliner, a rocky set spanning many genres, a must.(cant have another tedious damp squid like Johannah Newsome again) LW played my friends venue, The Plug, in Sheffield a couple of years ago with Doug Pettibone as lead guitarist for £24,000. It was knockout.

Felice Brothers headlining for Saturday, (they bring fun back into a performance, and put a smile on your face)

Eilen Jewell Band,

Alejandro Escovedo,

Hazmat Modine (next years Tinariwen)

Salif Keita,

Po-Girls

Camile O'Sullivan, just to throw in something slightly different.

Mention earlier of Sigur Ros, last year, their producer (and Moby) Ken Thomas and his wife were at the festival but stayed off site where we were staying.

The Avett brothers ( one of the best live bands, definite headliners)

The Tallest man on earth

Josh Rouse

Justin Townes Earle

Stacey Earle

Marah

Jesse Malin

Gillian Welch

Eileen Rose

Slaid Cleaves

I could go on and on........

The Gaslight Anthem to end the festival on Sunday night!

Krikey Just realised that we are talking about 2013 headliners! At least we don't have a thread about "Did anyone see the girl doing a poo?" Although I wish blokes would not piss in the hedge outside the Garden Stage!

Two Gallants (lovely blokes but been a bit quiet lately) not seen since 08 in the Big Top

I bet they get Joanna Newsom back for 2013

On another, and blatantly thread-amalgamating, point I'm increasingly falling in love with Lanterns on the Lake. The more I reflect on their Big Top set this year, the more I remember just how great it was. Even more exciting for me was that it was very apparent that they will get better. I've ordered the new album on vinyl and eagerly anticipate its arrival on 19 September - an early birthday present for me! Anyone else blown away by the charming-yet-punch-packing Geordie chamber-post-folk-rockers?

Lanterns On The Lake were utterly superb - I remember talking to you about them Ben and you said they should have a male singer and they sounded too similar to SR. Have to disagree and say that they are pretty unique, but agree that they will get better!!!! They were my favourite new found band at the festival!!

Surely Frightened Rabbit are big enough now to qualify as potential headliners? Lower down the list, I'd love to see Morton Valence play in the Garden. Also the magnificent Fuzzy Lights (if they're still around). As "solo-dudes-with-guitars" go the very, very amazing Nick Harper would be amazing to see. Then there's some bloke called Darren Hayman I've heard of who seems to be not too shoddy. I reckon he should play EOTR sometime. At least once.

Brian Wilson played our local venue (Cap 1700-ish) a couple of years ago - imagine him as Sunday headliner!

Saw Nick Cave at Cambridge Folk Festival a while back when he headlined and he was superb even though I'm not a huge fan. As a live act he's got enough presence to carry off a headline slot on the Woods stage. Think he'd be a superb headliner. Would also love to see Sigur Ros but this seems unlikely.

I may have to make some new topic headers soon, like gig reviews, album reviews, etc.... I am never sure now where to post.

Yep Fuzzy Lights are still around, or certainly in some form as I saw them in Cambridge as 2nd support to Cloud Control. Although they were operating under another name, which escapes me, as an ofshoot project.

They'd make a lovely Garden Stage headliner, I would think. If I remember right, they played Shepherd's Bush last time they played London, which puts 'em on the same level as the New Pornographers (headlined Big Top in 2010 when that was the 2nd stage). Whereas 2011's headliners play Brixton Academy/RAH-size venues.

(That's a long way of saying zahidf is right :))
