Hello Neil

I was talking to a friend recently who used to access this site many moons ago. He asked me if the little logo feature of the dancing man was still there. I said it wasn't and that it was quite stationary now. He wondered why the change, which I could not answer. Can you tell me the reason so that I can let my friend know? Thanks

It's for no particular single or firm reason on my part.

I had the website redesigned a few years ago, and the designer went with the form that it's in now. I decided to stick with it rather than ask him to change it so that he danced as he had been doing.

A part of the reason for sticking with it was because over the years I'd had a number of people complain about his dancing. Some of those were simply that they didn't like the aesthetic of it (who can be said to have been ignored), but some were because of their visual impairments - and as one of my oldest friends is blind I tend to have a greater consideration of that than I might otherwise have.

Then there were the practicalities. If he still danced then he'd be dancing over the wording that's now next to him; the issues around that, and even having the designer re-create him dancing in the new colour, etc, might have added to the costs of the redesign. While the costs wouldn't have been in any way prohibitive, it might still have been extra costs even if small.

I liked what the designer had done. I stuck with it. :)

At sometime in the future the site will be redesigned again. It's quite possible that he'll dance again.

Thanks for the reply. My friend does like to know these things, so this info will make him a happy bunny. Ta
