Hey,
I'm looking at going to a festival next year and not V, did not go this year (crap lineup, resulting in additional idiots!!) but have previously.
At the top of my list is IOW (Glasto in 2013) a mate went this year and said the atmosphere was 100% better than V.
What are the good and bad parts of IOW? How much is the Ferry to IOW from southampon/Portsmouth?
Most importantly whats the big differences between IOW & V?
Cheers

Been to the last couple of IOW's, and pretty much every V apart from the last couple so can give you an idea of the differences. IOW tends to have good headliners but a lot of shite on....and because you've got fewer stages you'll probably find you'll have big gaps between bands you wanna see. The Friday night in the tent is normally abysmal. The atmosphere does tend to be better than V...but can get incredibly rammed and security is virtually non-existent (leaving the arena after the Foo's this year was a bloody nightmare). They've got an increased capacity for next year as well...they've said its for staff but I would be amazed if they dont put more tickets on sale...which unless they increase the size of the site is gonna make it very hard work.
IOW is less corporate, they actually use the big screens to show music rather than constant adverts!
Ferry was about £20 return from memory (on foot).
There aint much between them in all honesty...at a push I'd say IOW just edges it in terms of overall experience but V has better lower line-ups. Weather tends to be better at IOW!
