Would love some help or advice - my young (& inexperienced online purchasing) daughter bought a weekend Reading Earlybird ticket from the above website -No ticket received (I'm sure you know the rest) website is now closed, no response to e-mail and doom and gloom about the company whose name appear on the bank statement (CYB/NEL catering for football) website regsitered to a Canadian company.
I could just cry for my daughter - she was so looking forward to going - of course the ticket may yet turn up but somehow I get the feeling this is not going to end well.
Has anyone else bought through this bunch....? Any words of wisdom (other than the advice she now knows she should have followed e.g. buy safely)

hi there, it is bloody silly when people feel the need to be like that. your daughter isn't the 1st and won't be the last i'm afraid.

only ever use websites mentioned on Reading and Leeds official websites.

ticketmaster, seetickets, stargreen i think it is, ticketline, to name a few.

As for getting a ticket, a lot will disagree but I have bought of ebay before, in fact a ticket for a festival this year arrived from ebay no problems, as long as feedback is good, especially for recent ticket purchases, a lot are genuine. and i've sold on ebay myself, so kind of think i should trust as i would like to be as my feedback is spotless too. except for this, seetickets are still selling leeds festival weekend and early entry if thats any good? i know its more money but it guarantees you it and learn for next time. hope this helps :)

Tragic. Did she pay by credit card? If so then there's a good chance a refund could be possible if there's some kind of protection, then it's just a matter of borrowing the money to get a ticket off ebay/viagogo and then paying whoever back when the credit card company refund the money.

Unfortunately there are plenty of sites that offer advice on how to avoid fake sites but not many on what to do if you get stung.

Thanks guys, yes she bought by card (but its a visa debit which I think only allows you 3 months grace to seek refund..????) I'm just gutted - all her friends have their tickets, she bought them to celebrate haveing done well in her GCSEs and knowing she could sit her AS's and then have a great time - but the bits thats bringing me to tears is Muse & Panic are her absolute fav bands. I have tried looking at the tickets pon seetickets - they appear to be day tickets only and when you say you want to buy they say they are not available. And e-Bay....?? once bitten.....

Buy from viagogo. Tickets available for £200 (incl. extra costs). At least with viagogo they guarantee either the tickets or your money back if the seller does not deliver the ticket

It's terrible news regarding your daughter's ticket my friend but it does appear she has fallen foul of an illegal website. I am pretty sure that the website you have mentioned is actually listed on the official Reading/Leeds website saying NOT to buy from this site as their IP addresses register in UzbeckIraqistan or some strange country that I can't spell.

Try your best to get a refund, even if you don't hold much hope...every little helps.

Regarding buying a new ticket for your daughter Ebay is rather risky. Websites such as viagogo.co.uk are your best shout as people who have bought tickets then realised they can't go, tend to sell their tickets on this website! And it's all legal!

Once again, it's terrible news about your daughter! This is my first Reading festival and I would be devastated to learn I'd been sold a dud ticket!

Kind wishes
xox :D

Viagogo, ###### and getmein.com ( not letmein) are all legitimate & legal secondary sites which guarantee you get your ticket and also don't pay the seller until after the event -so there's no point in trying to sell fake's. They mostly stop selling 5-6 days before the event. Cheapest prices likely to be 5-6-7 days before the event. I wouldn't trust ebay again- been done before. Hope you can afford to help her out. Good luck

Sorry to hear about your daughter's plight, but she certainly can still get a genuine ticket to the festival, without having to go to touts on eBay or Viagogo - if she moves fast.

Tickets are still available from official sellers if you go to the right ones. Stargreen is the one I've been keeping an eye on and they haven't sold out yet:

http://www.stargreen...ng_26-aug_29372

(Scroll to the bottom of the page to buy.)

They're an official ticket outlet (listed on the festival site) and if you're in London they even have an office in Oxford Circus, so you can go and buy direct if you want to be absolutely sure of not getting ripped off.

I've bought tickets from See Tickets very close to the festival before too - often they release returns or extra tickets without announcing it officially.

(Edited to add: I'm not sure where you stand financially and if your daughter can afford another ticket, but I think if she paid by any credit card or a Visa debit card then she should have a very good chance of getting the cash back from her card issuer.)

Wish me luck - on the back of your good reviews I'm heading into Viagogo territory to replace her ticket (she can't miss Muse for God's sake!!!)

Why use Viatoutout? There's tickets still available from official vendors.

Your daughter clearly has your simple genes.

Actually FiestaDave you are wrong :o  - there are no tickets left via the official vendors and they list Viagogo as the recommended outlet on the Reading site.

Viagogo and getmein.balls are no more than corporate tout sites and should be avoided like the plague, unless you bust someone for less than face value. The above websites still have tickets, why not get them for the ACTUAL price they're meant to be?

Seetickets still have weekend tickets available. Please do not be tempted to buy from Viagogo. Good luck.
