I am to Standon Calling this weekend never been before 20 minutes from my house, no arena, 24 bars, night club in a cow shed, swimming pool what is there not to like?
Anybody been before or going this weekend?

Never been. Not going this weekend, but am green with envy. A bash like that 20 minutes from home sounds ace. Have fun.

Apparently his parents paid the £355K back so presumably Tesco didn't pass the loss on? Instead they just gave us our normal shafting!

I went last year - it's pretty local to me too, not going this year as I have other plans for the weekend that I can't change, but will definitely go back next year.
Really enjoyed it - it's small but perfectly formed. The cowshed disco is wicked.

Unfortunately not, I don't think he's employed by them any more!

Yes I know. It's still held in the grounds of his house though, so not totally disassociated with him!

I didn't know that. So the disassociation looks tenuous to say the least. Anyway, at the end of the day it looks like quite a good event to go to. Might be a possible to fill the Glasto gap next year.

I think it's going to be one of my Glasto substitutes for 2012 - although from what I've seen locally they've not sold as many tickets this year; I hope it doesn't mean the end for it.

I think it's quite hard for them to fully dissociate themselves from him, seeing as its their son.

I didn't know that either (obviously). Makes you wonder more why he did what he did then if his parents are so loaded and also in on staging the festival.

what kind of stoopid dumbass thinks they can put £350,000 on a company credit card and get away with it. He deserves 3 years for being so thick

It does indeed seem to be an act of monumental stupidity and at a scale which is eye watering.I guess I don't know all the facts but it's hard to see how Tesco didn't have systems in place that would have prevented this fraud from getting anywhere near the £350K mark. They obviously didn't or maybe he was more conniving than just simply running up a tab.

I got back from Standon Calling last night and I was very impressed. I too heard the rumours of slow tickets sales and on the Thursday just before I left I received an email with a code for a free ticket, that said during the weekend there did not seem to be any shortage of punters, however as I have never been before I can not make a comparison with other years.
Never having been to such a small festival before it was nice to bump into the same friendly faces every day, this was even more likely for me as I took the missus and four kids so we met up with the same families. I was slightly concerned about taking all the kids to what is basically a weekend rave, but I need not have worried as even whilst I was putting my tent up I noticed there was quite a few families around some with kids even younger than my twin boys. Also because there are fewer kids on site than say Camp Bestival the kids get more attention, which they loved of course. The festival atmosphere was very welcoming and chilled from the other families down to the younger ravers.
I would find it difficult to say a bad word against the place, my best festival of the year so far and with only Shambala left in a couple of weeks time to try and beat it!

Appreciate the feedback as I was looking at this as an option for next year. Thanks.
