Hi, thought I would share this and I'm surprised no one has posted it already. I have an email from a reliable source (their PR) that JUNIP are playing the Thursday night of EOTR.

OK, didn't know who they were. Read their Last.FM profile and am now intrigued.

I'm sure that quite a few people won't know of them, but many will have heard of Jose Gonzalez, the lead singer. I cant see them being the Thursday night headliner myself but I may be proved wrong.

Yeah, it was José's name that mostly piqued my interest. Just listening now and it's nice. Very nice in fact. But it'll be like the Lanegan & Campbell set last year and will hardly get the party going.

Like some have said, I'm one of those who's always like a bit of Jose, whether solo or with Zero 7. I just had a listen to the Junip tracks at their website and would be really happy to see this lot perform on the Thursday night. You can listen here: http://www.junip.net/?page=music

Yes this looks like a good rumour, they are touring, they are playing Bestival and they are Sweedish!
As to getting the party started Shoebox, look who is doing the final all jumping/singing/dancing 'wow-I-am-on-a-high' ending. I rest my case!

I am surprised there isn't more excitement about this announcement here. the album was highly praised and JUNIP are supposed to be great live.

Ah, you know I'm fine with our closing headliner. I'm winding down on a Sunday night anyway. Yeah, sometimes you want to go out with a bang, but my biased opinion allows me to be fine with this alternative. I was just thinking back to the singing and dancing that went during Allo Darlin' last year. Would be nice to kick off the festival with something of that sort of ilk again.

That said, I'm really enjoying this Junip stuff. If it proves to be true, I'm pleased. It's good stuff. Was just a name that hadn't hit my radar before.

I am not familiar with their oevre, but Ms Jest will be pleased.

(Also means we don't have to ensure I see them at Field Day on Saturday).

Loving what I have heard so far. I don't believe EOTR will let us down this year like last year and every other year. Junip is a gr8 addition if it's true and fingers crossed that it is. I believe their will b other bands but even if their isn't it will b gr8 only 4 weeks

I wonder how many people haven't looked in here, to preserve the surprise?

Was kidding you! I think that someone saw my dancing at Allo Darlin and tried to avoid a repeat this year.  :P

This is good news indeed if in fact tis true.  Had tickets to see them in Bournemouth earlier this year but they cancelled due to ill health. Their last album is superb. Interestingly, they would have been supported on that night by Woodpigeon...............an EOTR favourite( and one of mine).
