Hi all,
I haven't had the time this year to spend listening to Spotify and the like and finding this years Monotonix.... so, of those bands on the undercard, who should I not miss????

Good tips all - though ButchWade I think I've seen most of yours in previous years at different venues/festivals..
I'm also looking forward to Shonen Knife...
Given their album sales, I suspect that it's going to be completely blocked paths up by the Musician Stage when the Pierces play?

They've been moved to the main stage before Young Knives, according to the latest posters.
From down the bill I'd say have a look at the Phantom Band, Beth Jeans Houghton, We Three And The Death Rattle, Admiral Fallow, You Slut!, My First Tooth and 2:54.

sadly i cant be there, but if i was, i'd watch :
(NB i've not checked potential set clash timings, so have no idea if they do).
Friday :
Fists
Shonen Knife
Uncle Frank (expect an even larger, more flamboyant set than 2008 i'm sure).
Saturday :
Chapel Club
You Slut
We Three And The Death Rattle (those brilliant pacific ocean fire twins return with more great stuff,
now sharing management with The Kills)
Sunday
dutch uncles (the festivals must see, if only for duncan's dancing, which never ceases to amuse each time i see it).
Fists
Factory Floor
My First Tooth
Warpaint

Thanks Andy - I'll definitely be seeing Shonen Knife on account of 'working' the Rising Stage on the Friday...
I really enjoyed dutch uncles when I saw them at the Musician recently so they'll be another I'll try to catch....
And Warpaint - yes, they're on my list if only to try and understand what the buzz is about - I'm sad to report that the stuff I've heard has generally left me cold!!!
We Three and the Death Rattle eh??? Certainly used to really enjoy Pacific Ocean Fire so that needs to be added to my list...

dutch uncles are ace. they were on the brilliant love and disaster compilation, sped's a mate.
warpaint : i think rob may disagree with you on that front. i liked them when i saw them in america.
im told ssw marks dave bartrams final appearance with showaddywaddy, which (irrespective of their cult / kitsch
profile), is worth attending just as a mark of respect. i cant really say many bad things about him, a very nice chap indeed.

And if it's Dave Bartram's final gig with Showadddywaddy then surely it has to be Showaddywaddy's final gig.... If they wear their different coloured suits then I'll be down the front dancing like a wrong 'un to 'Under The Moon Of Love'...

Even Queen managed to make a comeback without Freddie Mercury.

There's only Bartram and a bassist and drummer left anyway, isn't there?
http://www.showaddyw...net/concert.htm suggests there's loads of dates left, one with Alvin Stardust.

im only quoting their guitar tech.
by all accounts dave had decided to retire post ssw and they were hunting for replacements. this was a month or so ago though.

I can't stress enough to not miss The Antlers. Their first two albums have both been pretty darn awesome stuff and it doesn't look like there's as good acts on at the same time as them.

Just noticed on the SSW website the Leisure Society have replaced the Pierces on the main stage Sunday. Excellent addition and in the right place this time!

Actually, don't go and see You Slut!, Facebook says they've pulled out.
