I'm sure previous years there was a cool little map of the festival site on the website somewhere.
Am I just missing it somewhere ? , or are they really determined to keep the location of the Woods Stage a mystery/surprise

Previously i said that the woods stage must be in the main field but that doesn't suggest woods at all, more Fields than woods. So, my next guess is that the site has been made bigger and now includes the part of the woods that were closed off in previous years. Wherever it is, it's got to be a big enough space to have 8000 people watching because as far as i can gather the only thing on between 10-30pm - Midnight on the Sunday is Joanna Newsom. It still could be in the main field i suppose but over near the woods giving it it's name? It's got to be far enough away from the other stages otherwise they will get drowned out with noise.

Dont think there has been a site-map on the website in the past - BUT they have promised there will be one this year showing the new lay-out.

I wonder if it is round the back?
you know where you go through the gate from the main field, you then turn left to go to the Garden just past the food area - what if instead you went right after going through that gate, then carry along the track to the end of the trees, and its in that field at the end? would that make sense?
sorry in advance if i have missed the thread on this before posting.

This is the most likely from what I've heard so far. It would make sense, I'm pretty sure there is space there. Is that where the artists stayed before?
It would also be near quite near in terms of walking distance to all the other stages...

It doesn't need to be big enough for 8000 people as judging from reactions on here lots of people (me included) have no plans to see JN - even if there's no scheduled alternative!!

That's more or less what I thought.....and would allow the Garden and Woods stages to be (more or less) back to back, which is the most important bit in terms of minimising sound interference.
In the early years I seem to remember you could wander about a lot more and I seem to recall a big space down there - I think you could also get to it by walking past the Pavillion (and past where the Local was originally).
And yes, wouldn't be too far.

Can't find a site map for EOTR but there are ones for the Larmer Tree Festival and Larmer Tree Gardens.
I think it's more likely to be as someone said previously that the Woods stage will be in the main arena, where the Tipi is, as it was at the last Larmer Tree Big Chill. That may be why there is very little overlap with the Big Top, to minimise sound interference.
With comedy now in the "forest" the Tipi could be by the old comedy pavilion or where the Local used to be. However looking at the Bars page it says the Cider bus will be by the Tipi and the fire and I can't see the fire being down there.

There isn't. Apparently there will be more details about the changes on the website nearer the time. Does all this prevaricating mean they suspect the changes might not be popular, I wonder ? Or are things perhaps not finalised and the situation is still fluid as we speak ?

Mr PP dreamt last night that he was at EOTR. And EVERYONE was walking around with bits of paper in their hands. He could hear the music but NO ONE could actually find the Woods Stage ARGGGGGHHH

Maybe that's what it's all about! Just a sneaky way of easing crowd pressure on the Garden Stage.

GEEK ALERT! GEEK ALERT!
Here is a copy of the map from the 2009 Brochure.Nothing really much has changed but i'm going to guess the woods stage is going to be in the area where it say's 'emergency road' either that or somewhere off to the far left? I remember you could go down there at one point, lovely gardens etc but the last year or two you haven't been able to. The campsite is also extended a lot further to the right now but generally this map is how they set up every year.

As a steward at the recent Larmer Tree Festival and future EOTR Steward, it was 'hinted' that there will be some 'major-ish' site changes (not just minor stage maneouvres!).
I think we'll ALL have to wait for positive news - the impression I got was that it was still to be committed to paper........
Let's face it, the EOTR organisers haven't put a foot wrong since that first year Festival for the 52 attendees - trust them!!
