I'd definitely play Crouch over Carroll, purely for experience, but I'm hoping Roy doesn't go down the route of lump it in the box.

These were revealing moments by the side of Manchester City's pitch, if only for the frequency with which Hodgson halted play to pass on instructions. "Very hands-on," James Milner observed afterwards. Vocal, too. "You don't have to use short passes," the new England manager could be heard shouting at one point. "Not if you want to use your big man up front." Carroll put the ball past Joe Hart and Hodgson nodded his head appreciatively. "Well done,

Sounds like he's going for the lump it in the box route

Maybe this rule was meant for the right reason at one point but now it just means that the likes of sol campbell get paid by pompey before the local painter, it needs to go in my opinion.

Hulk to chelsea would be interesting, amazing how many brazilians are in the league now.  Also heard Vertonghen to spurs, he is good in football manager, not sure about real life, however they defintely need a new centre back.  Ranieri to spurs seemed to come out of the blue, be interesting to see him at  a smaller club.   Again a bit of a kick in the teeth to young british managers but defintely one of the good guys.
Completely agree.

Ranieri to Spurs? Where's that come from? Do you mean WBA? As if so, that's been in the pipeline for a few weeks.

Yeah, I'd heard that ages ago. my uncles are West Brom supporters, and apparently he's been the favourite for a while. I'd like to see him back in the Prem, although I bet Hughton would feel quite gutted to miss out again. Apparently Ray Wilkins has been linked as well? Seems a bit odd to me but would be interesting.

The normal discussion after a team wins a major tournaments on a penalty shoot out. Sepp wants them to go and has asked a task force to come up with a better solution.

any ideas? No ones really ever come up with one.

Other than keep playing until someone scores in a golden goal kind of thing so it almost becomes a measure of fitness, I don't get what else could be done? It's a tragedy only because of what it means to the losing side. The game is meant to be won in 90 minutes, if you don't you have to have to take your chances.

I do doubt if Bayern won he would have said anything...and I see nothing wrong with defensive football, part of football is to defend. Different styles win different days.

I agree on the defending stance. It's not a disgrace if a team wins by defending. People might not like it, but it's part of the game. If ya don't like it then you don't like the sport.

I heard an interesting proposal about removing a player from each team every couple of minutes until someone scores. Could work. Would certainly be entertaining.

Probably. He got a fair few "fuck off back to Everton" tweets after. Seems Spurs do listen to their fans.
Or listen to Saha - do you think he did that cos he wanted to stay?

Actually I don't like Chelsea :P

That'd be good actually. Although you wonder if that'll lead to attacking players being sacrificed because of the worry of losing a goal, ala how golden goal turned out.
