@Thowky - what you're effectively saying is that tall people should be in place before the gig starts, or else stand at the back if late, and short people can saunter in at any time they wish and stand anywhere they want.

Tall people are a pain in the neck. Being a short arse, I am always mindful of not just marching in and blocking someones view……….tall freaks never show such consideration

I've never observed people with umbrellas in European festivals (and yes, it rains there too, I think it's very English as you are the most prepared people for festivals! I never saw anyone else bringing seats or tents inside a festival either. Although I like the idea of having a dry bum so I might invest.
Back on topic, how can you compare umbrellas with tall people? I'm 5"11, tall for a girl and I am not yet over the complex of being slightly taller than my (and most) man and not being able to wear pretty heels without looking like a drag. If someone stuck "tallest gig girl" on my back, I would feel quite insulted. I can't fold my calves for you like you fold an umbrella.
I don't stand at the front anyway as I don't think it's the best place for sound, I stand where I want to though.
