What about the weather?

Unremarkable August weather
With westerly winds set to bring a regular suppy of weather fronts across the UK, we can all expect some rain at times.
Typically the north and west of the British Isles will catch most of the rain, while the southeast is somewhat sunnier and warmer at times, especially during any brief ridges of high pressure.
So not a complete wash-out, and this healthy mixture of sun and rain should keep harvesters and holidaymakers reasonably content.

Generally unsettled conditions remain during the new week. Often breezy and cool in the northwest, with showers or longer spells of rain, and a risk of gales in exposed parts from mid-week, but also some drier, sunnier spells. Elsewhere, some fine and dry weather at times but also a chance of rain or showers, especially towards southern and eastern parts with a higher risk of heavy and thundery rain on occasion, especially on Monday and again mid-week, but occasionally warmer than average at first. It may continue unsettled for most of the UK into the weekend and following week, with showers or longer spells of rain, especially towards the north and west, with the best of the drier and brighter weather further south. Temperatures continuing around normal or just below.
