Love how they put Foster the People and the Antlers together on FR. Get all summery and happy with FTP, then get brought down into crushing depression with Antlers.

The only song I've heard sounds a bit like MGMT in a good way. Is this a fair comparison or was it just that one song?

Bought Torches last week and really enjoying it - the hype is only about one song (Pumped Up Kicks), and I'll bet half the people watching them will leave after it, unless they finish with it.
I'll certainly be there, clashes permitting

Yes, but not in the way you're thinking (Foster the People are MGMT-y only in the sense that they're similar to the three pop tracks off OS - Electric Feel, Kids, Time to Pretend - Foster the People aren't exactly channelling Metanoia or the Handshake or Congratulations).

Are they hyped then? I don't follow such things anymore.
Good album, I'll be watching.

but they are still down for r+l
odd
"We have just had some unfortunate news. One of the bands whose show we were eagerly looking forward to have cancelled all their European festival concerts. Foster the People sincerely apologize for their absence"

Where's that quote from?
I'm confused, so they have pulled out of R&L? Gutted if it's the case, one of the bands I was most looking forward to.

where did you read that?

its from one of the festivals they were supposed to play this weekend, they still have r/l down on their website so it seems they are ok to play again

The Californian group’s other European festival shows, at the Reading & Leeds festivals and Dublin’s Electric Picnic, appear to be unaffected, with the dates still listed on their website at the time of going to print.

Good album, I'll be watching.
Only in that 'Pumped Up Kicks' has been all over Radio 1, and has had millions of views on Youtube. Like you I tend not to worry about such things as hype, and make my own judgement!
