I love the JP stage, one of my favourite areas, however I sometimes wish it was a proper outdoor stage like West Holts or Park as opposed to being stuck in a huge big top. It's a complete nightmare come headliner time particularly with the folding chair brigade camped up in their refusing to budge. Thinking back to Mumfords in 2010, great show but was way too packed in there and having to thread your way past the folders made things worse.
I've spent a lot of time in there in previous years, and a fair amount this year.
- No issue with chairs inside as stewards were kicking out chair-dwellers pretty quickly and consistently.
- I didn't think the sound was too bad this year, no worse than other stages, although I didn't see any headliners in there.
- Headliners for most stages are rammed, and suffer much worse for chairs (i.e. Pyramid, Other)
- The fact that it's a tent makes the atmosphere fairly unique over the other main stages (not just as a dry refuge), gives it more of a club/intimate atmosphere towards the front, and allows bands to work with lighting earlier in the day, which can sometimes make a good set a great one.
I would hate to see it changed as I love it the way it is
