Other festivals without separate camping/arena?

One thing I love about Glasto is the fact it's one big site with the camping areas all mixed up with the other stuff, so no 'kicking out' at 3am and no security barriers taking your drink off you. Are there any other (decent) festivals that do this?

Although I didn't camp there I'm sure there were tents everywhere at sziget.

Secret Garden Party doesn't have an arena (or at least didn't when I last went in 2007) and is similar in feel to a small Glastonbury. You're limited to 12 cans of beer on site though.

Beautiful Days describes the area in front of the main stage as 'The Arena', but its never evacuated at any time and people can camp quite close just up the hill from it.

Eh? Solfest has separate camping and arena. Don't think they're bothered about you taking your own drink in though. Alchemy doesn't have an arena but the stage area and camping area are kept separate - basically the camping on one side of a track and stages etc on the other.

but it limits what you bring
<quote>
You can bring up to 16 cans or a box of wine or 3 litres of cider/larger/ beer/wine (decanted into plastic bottles). Spirits are not allowed. You can bring this with you on arrival to the festival only.
</quote>
if its "bring your own beer" festivals you are looking for, there is a thread HERE......which starts off talking about BYOB festivals, but ends up in a discussion on beer prices

Shambala doesn't, or didn't when I went there a few years ago anyway.

Solfest does have a seperate arena, but it is open 24 hours and you can take your own booze in too. Greenman also has a seperate arena and last time I went in 2007 there were no checks on booze, although there were signs everywhere.

Two friends of mine that came (for the first time) to Glastonbury this year have been to Sziget for a couple of years.. They liked it (although they did the rent an apartment in town and head in each day glamping thing).. apparently it's a lot more dance-focused than G though.
... And G absolutely blew them away.. they said no comparison, we win hands down on best festival. I didn't argue.
EDIT: Hmm, looking at the line-up this year, that dance-focussed thing may have been bollox.. might just have been what they were dragged around to see by their dance-mad mates.. http://www.sziget.hu...programs/-/days

Thanks.. I guess it's not so much about the drink thing for me, I just love the fact that Glasto never sleeps.. I'll never forget one year I camped in the Dragon Field, and heard a Country band striking up down in Shangri-La at 8am on the Monday morning, just as I was returning to my tent to pack it up and go home..

2000trees has no arena but it is a small festival but still quite a bit goes on after the music has finished theres a headphone disco infront of the mainstage and then music at the bars and then some of the local bands on the bill tend to camp so tend to play some acoustic sets around the campsites which is always good.

That's really made me look forward to 2000 Trees all the more now
