You all seem to laugh at us saying Kettering or near Kettering isnt viable but knowing the "green space" around it I feel it still seems crazy. I shant rule it out though as I'd love to see a festival on my doorstep!

I don't know where people are hearing Kettering from, but theres a chance it is the remains of the idea that it was one of the options for R1 Big Weekend.
I'm 6 miles from Kettering and i know plenty of places it could be. "near Kettering" is so unspecific. Leicester is near Kettering if you're from Scotland.
Obviously it would be "nearer Leicester" if it was actually Leicester, but you know what i mean

"Leeds festival" isn't in Leeds - but if you were to ask people where it is (ignoring the fact that the location is within it's name) they'd say Leeds, because it's the nearest town.

and (crap 80's sci-fi reference alert!) 'V' festival isn't on a planet populated by lizards in human costumes

I suppose you could say the same for Glastonbury!

So are we here saying Pheonix is in Kettering or R! Big Weekend is? Cuz as far as I know R! Big Weekend is being held in Hackney, London.
And where in Kettering?, that won't have nearby roads to cause sound issues? The only place i can think of, of by heart is Weekley Glebe field and although not directly in Kettering, the area's around Cranford/Grafton Underwood etc but I would say that's not much chance.

Okay so we're on Pheonix. R! Big Weekend has been confirmed in hackney, London for ages now.
If within walking distance of Kettering and if it's the 2nd weekend, that's great. I'm off on holiday and a stones throw away and looking to do something that weekend.

i'm going to have a little go and say somewhere near to Corby, there are surrounding fields and I use this as they have a retail park that is Pheonix Retail Park, might not be anything be who knows.

If they are saying Kettering my bet would be Kelmarsh Hall

That's not a bad bet but the only thing against it is that it's listed under Northampton with an Northampton area code and post code. Inwhich case, although Kettering can mean surroundings but I'd have thought it would be near Northampton.
Any chance it could be Boughton House?

Yes R1 Big Weekend is definately in Hackney, but last year when it eventually went to somewhere in Wales, Kettering was the other possible site. I just thought that it might be the reason why there is talk about a festival in Kettering. For last year, I believe the venue was going to be Wickstead Park until it ended up in Wales (Bangor i think?)
Hope it is in Kettering or thereabouts cos its just down the road from me

everything I'm hearing is pointing to it not happening.
But as far as I'm hearing (the info is about a week old) planning is still happening, so it might still go ahead.

Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that there's no Glasto this year; which was probably an influence on them trying to relaunch the festival this year.
Also, July/August is Olympics time so any event around then has the chance to pick up extra business.
This is a double edged sword though, with organizers costs likely to be through the roof due to demand; possibly not the best year to try for a relaunch all considered.

Tho that's slightly unfair, cos it's not as tho nothing has happened in the meantime, even tho there's nothing to see of it. Stuff I've heard says that they've been working hard to try and pull something together.

From what I've heard, it's not going ahead this year.
