On the Saturday, we were sitting down having lunch on some of the benches near the pyramid stage.  A boy who must have been around 8 or 9 was wandering up to the people sitting down, and doing a wee dance routine which involved various Michael Jackson-style moves, body pops and hip thrusts, then at the end he calmly stuck his hand out for cash.  He'd then move on to the next bench and repeat his performance.

I just wondered if anyone else had seen him, and where did he come from?  Was he to do with one of the market traders?

No, but I was approached by a bloke (presumably Dad) with a begging joke telling boy on his shoulders. After saying "do you want to hear a joke for a "donation"" I got this.

Kid: Knock Knock.
Me: Who's there?
Kid: Europe.
Me: Europe who?
Kid: No, you're a poo.

Teaching kids to beg? My mother would have a fit. On the other hand he may have been to Cabaret and realised you can get paid for telling crap jokes.

I saw a couple of kids doing this in front of their family in the Pyramid field. They were refusing to let people past their chairs and blanket unless they paid them money. A few strangers offered up 50p etc but others just barged past or jumped over and good for them.

Why do parents think it's a good thing to let their kids demand money off strangers, albeit happy festival strangers, or even people they know? A long dark tunnel if you ask me.

was he a small ginger kid? definitely saw a small ginger kid bodypopping in the cider tent to a beatboxer. Didn't look like he was going for donations though

Yeah I saw him in the market area - though he had a cup which at the end of the dance he was shoving it in peoples face then pulling a sad face when they didnt put any money in it.

Def saw that kid dancing in the craft fields, was pretty good but didn't seem to be begging.

Skinny blond haired kid? With a cider cup as a collecting tin that after 30 seconds of body popping thrust at you? If so he was in disabled camping...

Maybe he just had rickets or something then, shame on you all thinking he was body popping.

We saw him outside a bar by the circus area, just round the corner from the Hurly Burly.

His mum gave him a cup and put in a few coins to get him started and then he worked around the crowd. He was pretty good to be honest and would probably do OK on Britain's got talent or something but his mum was definately encouraging him and was buying drinks from the bar!

Sorry to be judgemental!

Ahhhh so at least he was with someone when you saw him - he was just holding out his hands when we saw him - he did have long-ish dark blonde hair.  Wee bugger!

There was a kid in the greenfields offering to tell jokes for money.
But that wasnt nearly as entertaining as seeing a 8 year old on the route off site trying to sell cans of beer and cider that he had found abandoned, while just metres away a copper was more interested in the traffic flow.
